There is free all day preschool for 4's (half day option as well) and free half day preschool for 3's. They are instituting a lottery this year since demand has increased since it became free this past year. You automatically get a spot if you fall within certain income guidelines, you do the lottery if you fall outside the guidelines. There are affordable private preschool options too- I know lots of families who have really loved the preK programs at Hope and House of Prayer churches. From what I understand they are religion light. I think those are part day options but HoP at least has a full daycare if you needed a full day.

Parent Aware is new program that is giving daycares up to a four star rating depending on how kindergarten ready daycares are teaching the children. I am a daycare provider going through the process now. We have to use certain curriculum, certain assessments, lots of very specific trainings and prove that we are teaching the correct skills kids need to start school. We have to apply for the stars and reapply every other year to keep our stars. So long story long... ;) Look for a daycare with 4 stars with the parent aware program or at least one in the process to get them! It will show that the daycare cares enough to try hard and jump through hopes to be sure we are doing all we can do to help insure our kids are ready for school.

I second Early Choldhood Programs from Richfield/Bloomington Community Ed. Licensed early childhood teachers going though several trainings to be up to date, they Intensively prepare children in a fun and purposeful way for Kindergarten. Plus, most of the classes are held in elementary buildings, so by the time they go to kindergarten, the children are very familiar and confident with the environment.

I had all three of my kids go through House of Prayer with my youngest just finishing it this last May. Honestly, it's the best program ever. The teachers are amazing, they do so many cool activities and my kids were all loved and taught in the most nurturing way. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me but I couldn't recommend them more. Heather Anne Harrison is the director after taking over for her mom and does an amazing job.
