Richmond folks....who is a good dermatologist that is quick to get into? nothing serious....but I don't want to wait 6-9 months....Lexington good too..
Jennifer W. replied:
Check out there website Beth. It's a great place and a great run business office. Www.dak.com. 250 Fountain Ct Lex. 859.263.4444. You'd like dr Massa or her PA Sheri Bayer. Great folks and they know their stuff. Plus, they also hand a separate surgical center right there on site. I recommend then to everyone I know. Check them out!
Jennifer W. replied:
Dermatology Associates of Ky. Dr Massa..... Great lady and practice. Been going there for 23 years.
Melissa B. replied:
We LOVE Tracy Adkins at advanced dermatology!!!!!
Mary A. replied:
I second the recommendation for Dr. Massa Jennifer McGuire Whitt. Our whole fam are patients!
Looking for a good dermatologist in Richmond or even Lexington. I don't like Dr. Knuckles.
Joan E. replied:
Same boat -- Dr. Tobin has been recommended to me.
Kelly S. replied:
I used to see Dr. Tobin, but he left his practice to teach at UK, I thought.
EamonnandKate F. replied:
Dr. Fernando DeCastro at Dermatology Associates of KY in Lexington is wonderful. He cares most about preventing/treating skin cancer, but is comfortable with everything else. I appreciate that he rarely recommends anything outrageously priced.
Heather B. replied:
I'm not a fan of Dr. Tobin myself - tried to go to him a couple times and the clinic was so busy that I never even saw him either time. The nurse took pictures of some moles and told me she would have the doctor look at them and get back to me and she never did. Dr. Music is great and has an office in Lex and Richmond: http://www.dermconsultants.com/practice/erika-n-music-md
Sarah R. replied:
I've heard good things about Dr. DeCastro. He's from the Mayo Clinic. I haven't actually seen him, but I have a friend who works for him and he was going to be my next stop when I had hives. Before that, I saw Dr. Elliott at Lexington Clinic, and he was just ok. He was nice, but he also didn't do the tests my primary care doctor wanted him to do. His attitude was basically, "ehh I think you're fine."
Adrienne B. replied:
We see Dr. Black at Bluegrass Dermatology in Lexington. We've only done regular skin screenings, nothing more than that and we are pleased.
Judy W. replied:
Dr. Music at Dermatology Consultants in Richmond. 351 Radio Park Drive. I really like her.
Lisa A. replied:
Dr Mary Guiglia at KY Derm Associates in Lexington is excellent.
Maribeth U. replied:
Dr. Massa and Dr. Ramsey at Dermatology Associates of KY (in Lex off of Eagle Creek) are both good. Both have good staff also.
Suggestions for a good dermatologist closer than Lexington?
Pamela C. replied:
Dr. Nuckles is fabulous in Richmond. You would love her style and she is also a major cat lover. Knuckles? Don't know how to spell it.
Margie S. replied:
Only can tell you who I won't recommend: I had a bad experience with Dr, Knuckles and Kentucky Dermatology. Ended up going up to Lexington (Bluegrass Dermatology on Richmond Rd.)
Pamela C. replied:
I'm sorry everyone didn't have our good experiences with both Dr. Knuckles and also her husband, who practices in Lexington.
Denise M. replied:
I like Dr Music with the dermatology place behind University Book and Supply. Sorry, the name of her practice eludes me.
Shana V. replied:
I see Dr. Ballard. In Richmond. She's across from Meijer in that new center. She is fabulous!! Can't say enough about how wonderful she is! Ky dermatology.
Dermatologist recommendations in Richmond...GO! thx
Brandee W. replied:
I went to Bluegrass Derm in Lex off of Richmond Road.
Callie D. replied:
Dr. Bark with Dermatology Consultants. He's on radio dr., but only in on Tuesdays, his main practice is on Lex. In my opinion, he is a genius of all things dermatology .
I don't mean to sound bitter, but... If I had a personal:
Cosmetic dentist
Dermatologist
Plastic surgeon
Dietician
Chef
Trainer
Masseuse
Stylist
Designer
Makeup...

It's really about these ideals of beauty being sold to us everyday. Marketing isn't just about a product, and the power of a single photo on the cover of a magazine is extraordinary. Whether we should or not, we compare ourselves to an ideal that isn't even real for the actual person. Cindy Crawford once said she wished she looked like Cindy Crawford, and that was before Photoshop. I worry for the tween and teen girls especially.
