*Coming to Rochester for two days Alright Rochester,
I am in desperate need of a low key out of town get-a-way for a few nights. My partner is new to the area from out...

These kinds of posts are pretty frequent, there's an FAQs section on the sidebar, and with a quick search you'll be able to find a lot of the same "Visiting/Moving To/Coming To Rochester" posts with tons of helpful info.

Also in case of confusion, the Rochester Museum of Science and The Strong Museum of Play are 2 different museums. Both are very good. But just in case you were thinking they were the same thing. If I had to pick one I'd say go to the Museum of Play

Walk around Mt Hope Cemetery & Highland Park. They're right next to each other and a lot of beauty within them. Genessee Brewhouse has a great view of the city and great beer.

L&M is fun, but it’s definitely a dive. Great beer list makes up for it.

If you like making cocktails at home and vintage stuff, you may like Bar Mecca since that's also downtown. https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/lifestyle/rocflavors/2018/12/20/bar-gift-ideas-cocktail-presents-bar-mecca-rochester-ny/2224572002/

Hedonist Icecream in the South Wedge is very good, and right next to it is their chocolate shop, as well as a local club, Lux.
You can also walk Park Avenue- lots of big, big old houses, plenty of eateries, and some places to get drinks. Dog Town, which you mentioned, is on Monroe at the end of Oxford street. If you go down Oxford, you'll be at park, right where one of the bars are. Cute area, would definitely suggest popping in. There are also bike rentals on Park, where I saw you mention being interested in. If you go down Oxford and take a right on park (past the pub), keep walking down and there's bike rentals on the side walk (Pace bike rental). I think there's another called Zagster that operates in roc as well.
If you go another street back, you'll hit Eastman; where there is a planetarium if that interests you at all.
If you're looking for cheap movies with comfy chairs, you can drive out to Movies 10- their tickets are 2-4$ depending on when you go. 2$ tuesdays, 3$ matinee, 4$ GA.
Highland Park, Mt. Hope cemetary are good- and also located right by Collegetown, which is a smallish open air shopping area where a lot of the students hang out.
The Central library is also pretty cool.
Nosh and Temple Gate have good eats too, and I personally have been meaning to also check out the Spirit Room so even though I haven't been, I've seen good things so give it a shot!

Lots of great breweries. I am partial to Lost Borough, K2 and Fifth Frame. But Swiftwater, Roc Brewing Co and Three Heads are popular too. Been meaning to check out Sager Beer Works, and a nano-brewery just opened like, yesterday, it’s called Nine Maidens. And the Genny Brew House has some good beers and an awesome view. Tap and Mallet isn’t a brewery but has the best tap list around and excellent food. Cobb’s Hill is cool and right in the city. Mendon Ponds is an awesome park, lil bit of a drive. There’s a new rock climbing/bouldering gym. Abode is a cool vintage store, but not the cheap kind of vintage. NeedleDrop for records if you’re into alternative music at all.

If you desire the original garbage plate, it is [Nick Tahou Hots](http://www.garbageplate.com/) on Main st. They've got funky hours to be mindful of (8AM-8PM M-Th; 8AM-midnight F/Sat). Dogtown makes a pretty good plate too, and lots of other creative choices of hots.
Want to go to a museum this weekend....anyone been to any in upstate NY that are decent and would recommend? If anyone says Strong museum I will slap the shit outta you...

If it was better outside, I'd suggest Genesee Country Museum or Sonnenburg Gardens The multitude of small museums in Palmyra on main st or Mt Hope Cemetary...but since the weather is questionable at best...it would be a fabulous day to traipse through The Art Gallery or Eastman House (Check to see if the are playing a movie in the Dryden Theater too...)
