Thanks Angie Macnamara Browning for posting these pics. I ask because my Griff has taken a lot to itching himself of late and I have started to notice him losing a bit of fur in these areas. They are noticeably barer than any other part of his body and they appear in patches. Not as badly as you have depicted in your photos. Not only that but with out Griff, there is no reddening of the skin, sores, or bug-bite looking marks on him anywhere in the balding areas. Although he scratches mostly throughout the day, I notice his 'chewing" on his skin more when he is crated at night. My GF, Sarah Laske spends the days with him where he is often crated in her vehicle so we have no real way of knowing if he is chewing there as well. We have preened him high and low looking for signs of lice and having found none, ruled them out along with fleas. We have a medicated shampoo (Vet's office) that we have started to use so hopefully that will help. I am hoping it is dry skin brought on by our dry climate and change of seasons. Who knows though. Thanks for sharing and posting these photos for the rest of us to learn from. I do hope a speedy and quick recovery to your Griff.
I know this might sound like a joke, but does anyone know a good, reasonably-priced pet allergist in the metro area? We've got a feline with quite a few mystery...

Thanks, Jessica. I think we may have gotten her info from our vet as well, but luckily we figured out that the culprit was a wool area rug before we had to navigate that route. It was much cheaper (and less traumatic for the kitty) to eliminate the ru g than to visit the allergist. We will keep Dr. Schick in mind if we need her in the future, but hopefully our little guy won't experience any more problems! *knock on wood* PS: I think it's awesome you help out at a cat rescue.
