Brian Dempsey for acupuncture is great for pain relief; he's at the Davis Holistic Health Center on E. Fifth Street (near L Street) in, uh, Davis. Also, google "mindfulness-based stress relief" for pain management. It's meditation-based but it works.

as a gift I got a massage at Asha Urban Baths on 27 th and Broadway. It was amazing. Its the first massage that ive had that i feel asleep in for a few min. and if you get a massage there you get free use of the bathouse. that was awesome too.

If you're looking for something cheaper, but still professional and good, I go to "Happy Days Spa" in Natomas. (3890 Truxel Rd # 100). If you buy a booklet of 10 massages, paying in cash, it's $12 per hour. I always fall asleep during the foot massage part.
