OK, my dad had two television rules in our house. We were not permitted to watch (1) Mr Ed or (2) Championship Wrestling. Talk about "moths to a fire." I did go to several Championship matches up in the old Spencer School gym. Expect Robin Butler was there, somewhere, too. We used to collect wrestling posters they put around telephone poles on the road leading to NC Finishing. Talk about old school. My hands still hurt from all the staples I was impaled with carrying those colorful, but really bulky, posters around. AND THEN: My grandfather, I expect to supplement his Railroad Retirement Income, moved to Charlotte and started managing a hotel. Turns out, it was where "ALL" the wrestlers stayed while in Charlotte. Championship Wrestling Heaven. Those guys hung out in the lobby, around the desk, would take us out back and show us "holds.' Johnny Weaver and Swede Hanson, in particular come to mind. My mom was beyond mortified. And it got worse. My grandfather started going to the matches in Charlotte and was on the black and white TV. If my dad was off on a golf weekend, we would sometimes break protocol and watch when on Saturday my Grandfather told us to. Then, you would see him in the stands, waving and screaming with the rest of the fools. I still remember my mom, tears streaming down her face, saying, "I am so glad mother is not around to see this."
Randy S. replied:

Mike S. replied:
I remember watching him in a 6-man tag team one time. He was paired up with The Kentuckians, Big Boy Brown & Tiny Anderson. I'm surprised the ring didn't tilt at an angle.
Julia H. replied:
Yes, I remember this period well. They really put on a show. Bob H.
