Karen C. replied:
We have been here full time a year. It takes a while to see either a family doctor or a specialist. I got in with Mid-Atlantic, see Dr. Lavin, and think she is great, thorough, and takes her time with you. I do think she is taking new patients. It took 3 months to get in with Dr. Marafat, gastroenterologist, but really am pleased with him also.
Libby S. replied:
This is the wave of the future. I suspect we will be seeing Clin Specs or PAs or specialists. If you live in Seaford take a look at PRMC and Salisbury docs.
Shelley N. replied:
I live in Sussex and go to New Castle County for healthcare.
Bev D. replied:
It took us a while to get appts with primary care but well worth the wait. We also use Mid-Atlantic Primary Care. Specialists so far have been wonderful through Beebe. We’ve had surgery; minor and major as well as routine procedures. Tunnell Cancer Center is excellent. Delaware Eye Institute for ophthalmologist. We prefer our orthopedic in Annapolis but the docs here are excellent just take forever to get in. Not enough of them! My husband had rotator cuff repair by Dr. Pallai, very pleased.
Jennifer H. replied:
My doctor’s office saw us before we had our “new patient” appointment. When I switched us all over it was a few months until our new patient appointments but one of my youngins got sick and they saw us. I am with Laurel Family Practice.
Mary F. replied:
We called shortly after moving here to find a primary care doctor and had an appt a couple of months later. Weren’t very happy with his style and saw Beebe ad announcing new primary care doctor (Dr. Gina Facciolo) with Beacon Family Practice. Got appt with her quickly. She did a thorough exam and had to see her when sick and got in right away. She takes time with you and shows genuine concern. Very happy with her.
MJ O. replied:
The reason is that the area is growing so rapidly that the practices can't keep up. We have been seeing Brian Prigg at Milton Family Practice for several years, we love him, he is a PA. They have just hired several new doctors and a new PA to try to catch up with the growth.
MJ O. replied:
If you need any radiology services, I highly recommend Ocean Imaging in Milton, they see you very quickly and are wonderful, and you can get your results from the radiology doctor immediately if you prefer. I always get mammograms there.
Sheri A. replied:
I've been here for 10 years and I have found your experience to be typical of my experience. It took me forever to find a dermatologist that anyone would recommend and once I did, it took me over 6 months to get in to see her. I didn't have any problem getting into my dentist if I recall, I go to the Dental Group, and same with my family practice Doctor, Doctor Amy Robinson. Edited to add that, while dr. Robinson no longer takes new patients, her practice has now been put under the Beebe umbrella and they are adding several new doctors.
Joli M. replied:
Dr Gary Raffel in Millsboro is wonderful and extremely easy to get an appointment with as he has a small, independent practice. 302-259-1000
Karen A. replied:
Linda, you might want to try my Internist, Dr. Odette Evangelista. She is with the Beebe Healthcare network and is in Georgetown, just across the street from Del Tech. Her practice is relatively new in this area but she is experienced and is an excellent clinician. I think part of the reason you are experiencing this issue is because the doctors may be in long standing practices and are slower to take on new patients. I experienced this here but also many years ago when we moved to Texas. Since Dr. E (as I call her) hasn't been at her location for a long time, she's still building a client base. I used to hire Doctors for a living and always look at credentials before I select a doc. She is excellent and I can highly recommend her. Good luck. Don't give up. This is a great place to live!
Pat P. replied:
Unfortunately that seems to be the norm. If anything would make me move back to Jersey it is that. Fortunately I have gotten settled with a nice group of Drs. Medicine is definitely practiced differently here then Jersey thats for sure. Good luck.
Rhonda K. replied:
I had to look for another PCP dr and I called Dr. Damouni at Peninsula Health in Millsboro (302) 945-0440. When I made the call I got in within 2 weeks..highly recommend
Steven W. replied:
my parents use Dr. Marie Wolfgang in the Georgetown area.
Amy D. replied:
Dr DeLuca at Wagner Prigg is wonderful. Make that appt & if you need to see someone in the interim, use the walk-in suggested above. Once you’re in with her (DeLuca), you will be seen any time you need to be. They run their practices like a business down here, but once that initial part is out of the way, you won’t be disappointed. Good luck!!
Shengli W. replied:
Healthcare options in Sussex are not very limited when it comes to finding a good doctor. Many of us travel north for better care. Sounds like you are looking for a Primary Care Doctor. Mid Atlantic Family Practice might be taking new patients and all their doctors, PAs and CRNPs are great. Dr. Catherine Deluca is great too and she works out of the practice at Red Mill Center on Route 1.

Dr. Stephen Berkowitz on Route 24 Beebe Health Campus has become our primary care do tor since moving here. He is an old school, no nonsense doctor. If your appointment is for 8 am, he actually takes you at 8 am. His office does not take credit cards or checks for insurance co-pays, but that is a small inconvenience. Plus, when you are ill, his staff does everything they can to fit you in for an appointmemt the SAME day.

I have a customer who is looking for a GREAT hypnotist for quitting smoking, does anyone know of a good one in the area?
John P. replied:
My neighbor does this and is located on the Hwy. http://coastalhypnotherapy.com/about.php
Libby S. replied:
Cigarette smoking is one of the hardest addictions to manage. Make no mistake, it is an addiction. No one method will put you magically in tobacco recovery. Touch base with Delaware Quitline(866-409-1858) before doing anything. This is a life threatening addiction and you will need all avenues for help. Accupuncture and hypnotism are aids.

Kathy, They still have Country line dancing every wed night at Old Bay Steakhouse on Rt 1. I believe it's Wed nights.

Personally I always preferred Partner Dancing like the 2 step, the East Coast Swing, Country Waltz and others. I may have to resort to line dancing to get my fix. What time does it begin?
Billy P. replied:
I am not sure Kathy...here is their # 302.645.8273
Dave P. replied:
If you go through the state's smoking quitline counseling 1-866-409-1858 it's free. I know a few people who used it and it works. They use Chantix.

Ours is seeing Delaware Guidance Services but we also did alot of research on side affects.
Don G. replied:
we go to the University of MD Medical Center in Baltimore to Dr. Rao. He's been working with my son for a few years now ADAH and mild Tourettes. We found a great combination of "Intunive" and "Ritalin" works pretty well to keep him trucking but we do find we need to "tweak" them a bit every time he has a growth spurt. Best of luck with your little one.:)
Dara S. replied:
We like Dr. Chambliss (psychiatrist) and Lisa Pippa (Adv.practice nurse) at Delaware Guidance.
Suzanne S. replied:
Genetic tests are great - better than trying 5 medications. My son lost a lot of weight and had a lack of sleep on ADD meds so he stopped them - they helped with focus but the side effects got too much. He saw Dr. Borer. Natural TX did not work for him.
Melanie B. replied:
Lisa Pappa@Delaware Guidance is great. She definitely aims for least amount of meds. If you go there they require you to see one of their counselors. It's been really good for my son who has Asperger's.
Nancy J. replied:
Try consulting with Dr. Kim Furtado and her associates at http://www.quakertownwellness.com/ . She is a licensed doctor, a naturopathic physician. They may be able to help her without drugs, using food/herbs/nutrition, etc.. They have helped me. I highly recommend them. Unfortunately, although visits are covered by insurance in some states, DE doesn't yet acknowledge naturopaths as doctors so insurance companies are not required to cover these visits. But, it's worth EVERY PENNY!! No harmful side effects.

Dr Gideon is the pediatrician who figured out what would work for her.
