Best place to get a oil change in Salt Lake? I know about Jiffy Lube, but I have had mixed experiences with them in the past. I bought a new car a couple years ago, and...

Do not go to Jiffy Lube again. It's just a bad idea. What part of the city are you in?

Mobil 1 express and wash. It's on 300 west just south of Walmart. Plus you get a free car wash and vaccums.

I've never had problems with jiffy lube, plus they pretty much always have coupons for any service you can get there.

Jiffy Lube in downtown Salt Lake has been TOTALLY COOL to us. We don't go anywhere else, because their service is BOSS.

I know changing your oil yourself can be intimidating but it isn't too hard usually.

Call me crazy (and I'm sure at least one of you will), but I've always gone to dealerships. It's a few bucks more, but they always know what they're doing.

Old Fashioned Service in Holladay had the highest google rating I've seen for a car shop. My limited experience with them has been very positive.

I've gone to this place 15+ times with good results. I've had similar problems at Jiffy Lube (they forgot to put the plug back in on two occasions...). Texaco Xpress Lube 5534 W 3500 S, Salt Lake City, UT (801) 966-1899 · texacoxpresslube.com They do have a few guys that may try to upsell you on an air filter or whatever, but otherwise it's great.

I started a thread like this a few months ago. People recommended Autograff Motorworks, and I haven't looked back. The people there have been extremely honest, straight shooters for me.
For example, I went in and got my oil changed and tires rotated. The engine was having a hard time turning over, so I asked about it. They told me that the battery is dying, but don't change it yet because it'll be fine over the summer. Come fall or winter, when the temperatures drop, I'll need a new one.
I was impressed that they didn't try to sell me on a new battery right then and there. I haven't had any major work done on the car since I've moved here, but people said that they're affordable in general. I recommend checking it out.

Burt Bros is locally owned and does a great job. If you're cheap just do it yourself.

Clark's is awesome. They are very green friendly and never screw you over. Also, I have heard good things about Autograph which someone else recommended.

If you're willing to get a little dirty, look up a youtube video for changing it yourself, because you're just buying the oil and filter it ends up being half the price. All you need is a socket wrench to remove the plug, an oil drain pan, some paper towels, and a funnel. After your done draining, just put the old oil in the empty bottles and take them back to the auto store. And if your cat sits low just use a jack to prop it up, and lower it when the oil drains.
