Does anyone know a good vegetable source of Vitamin B12?
RKBA replied:
Do the same thing us old folks who have developed [atrophic gastritis](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atrophic_gastritis) do, inject 1 cc of [cyanocobalamin](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanocobalamin) every month. Atrophic gastritis destroys (among other things) parietal cells which produce "intrinsic factor." [Intrinsic factor](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parietal_cell#Intrinsic_factor) is required for the absorption of vitamin B12 in the diet regardless of how much vitamin B12 you consume orally, and therefore injection of hydroxocobalamin or cyanocobalamin is essential to prevent [Pernicious anemia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pernicious_anemia#Causes) in those of us with atrophic gastritis. My hematologist told me that Caucasians are especially susceptible to atrophic gastritis as we age.

Sublingual B12 supplements are best and easiest it has to be sublingual to be properly absorbed

I quit red meat awhile back, but looking at my diet, the only thing I'm really missing is the B12 I used to get from red meat. Anybody know a good source that doesn't involve animal flesh?

Try Air BnB. It usually does the trick in the Bay Area.
