PM me. Come over this weekend with a filter and four quarts of oil and I'll help you do an oil change (or walk you through it if you need a hand). I'm in SF.

There is also a place in Treasure Island called Moto Guild. They let you rent lifts to do the work yourself. They also hold classes to teach you about valve adjustments and basic maintenance.

Use heat. Either an electric hot air gun (the sort used for stripping paint), or something like an [Iroda](https://www.amazon.co.uk/IRODA-MICRO-PORTABLE-BLOW-TORCH/dp/B008JAG2W8/ref=sr_1_6?s=diy&ie=UTF8&qid=1476279396&sr=1-6&keywords=iroda) blow torch, which is what I use. You're not aiming to get it red hot, so don't use a welding torch. Give it five minutes with the blow torch or hot air gun, then it should come loose fairly easily with a 2' breaker bar. Make damn sure you are turning it in the right direction, because it's easy to get confused if it is on the bottom of the engine.

He says that he retorqued the drain plug to 32 foot pounds! The torque spec on my 2008 SV650SF's drain plug is less than half that value...
