You can also use ANY Notary in Costa Rica for official translations. Notaries in Costa Rica are different than in US. Only lawyers can be Notaries in Costa Rica and not all Costa Rican lawyers are Notaries.

It is easy to do yourself especially if based on pension. Migracion.com provides application form, list of requirements and step-by-step directions. You have to gather all your own documents with or without lawyer. It is just as easy to hand your documents to Migracion officer as it is to hand them to s lawyer.......actually easier because you put legal fees in your pocket.
