Ray G. replied:
Contact Arden at Ship Costa Rica - Barry is the owner and has really done a good job of taking care of us. We should get our container this week. He offers door to door and it is worth it. Arden's contact is arden@shipcostarica.com and barry is barry@shipcostarica.com
Andy B. replied:
Jen Beck Seymour: ShipCostaRica no longer ships pallets. They stopped several months ago (per Arden). Look to Ship To Costa Rica (Charlie Zeller) or even ABC Mudanzas. Good company and VERY responsive.

Does full container loads and consolidated shipments of less than a containerload from his warehouse in Fort Lauderdale. E-mail: rappmike1@aol.com.
Jen S. replied:
We can't use shipcostarica.com - because we don't have enough stuff (really need a full container's worth to make it worth our while). Todd - actually, we'll probably be able to come with the checked luggage on our first trip. But, yes, we do plan on making a trip back to the states at our 3 mo. mark anyway...
My turn to apologize for asking a question that I know has been asked untold times before....... After looking at vehicles here, I am starting to lean towards shipping...

Ronda-and John Harmon - If you want a car that has been wrecked or has rolled back miles, then you should buy here in Costa Rica. When I picked my car up that we shipped here from the US, it was the ONLY car at the Tibas warehouse that didn't have significant damage to it. My car with no dents or problems looked like it was sitting in the middle of a junk yard. Here is an article about the common practice here: http://www.welovecostarica.com/public/1535.cfm
Anyone has a suggestion for a good global moving company for shipping furniture and stuff? We are leaving.
Terry S. replied:
Sell what you can locally and take what you can in suit cases. The cost and damages to ship back are rarely worth it. You can ship your stuff back (American goods returning) with a consolidator. However, you still have to hire a customs broker and bonded warehouse in US. You can contact American airlines cargo it was $1.50 a pound 2 years ago.250$min. To Miami. UPS and another Florida West cargo. Beringer Air Cargo is new player with daily flights. Ocean cargo heading north has always been a problem and it still 75% of the cost of airfreight. I've moved back and forth over 30 years. Ocean consolidation freight is good coming down, not going back.

Did y'all not read my blog link aboe as there I list DETAILS on the various Mac repair people & companies. It's EASY to get Apple's serviced in CR & individuals are LOTS cheaper than the dealers & LOTS faster as it says. Google - Apple repair costa rica & my blog comes up on many others sites)
Vicki S. replied:
Dahime, IF it were me, I'd first contact John Thomas at Laboratoria de Electronica in SJ to see if he can do it. Otherwise, ALL the "Official" apple repair distributors are NOT cheap & can take WEEKS to get parts. I'm actually flying to Portland, OR on Thurs. & can mail it for you if you want to go that way (if it's under warranty). I'm in Grecia till Tues. night & Escazu on Wed.if you want to bring it to me. I'm flying back on Sept. 11 (staying in Grecia though you could meet me at the airport as we're getting in at around 11:30am & we HAVE to hang around for about 2 hours to process my friends dog). FYI - the link I gave you is to my blog. Google - apple repair costa rica & you'll see it's one of the top sites that comes up - so I'm not some fly-by-night person that's going to run off with it!!

Lisa V. replied:
WARNING: I wanted to tell you the same thing Julie Sager and James Michael Tanzini said. I have friends who have a non profit to help the local indigenous kids. They acquired a bunch of backpacks in the USA for the kids to use for school. Costa Rica customs would not let them pass through. My friends had to go to San Jose, then somewhere else (I don't remember where) to the place where the backpacks were being held. And then they had to pay really high import taxes to have the packs released. They had proof that these backpacks were not to be sold but to be given away to the Bri Bri children of Costa Rica. But the government did not care. My friends have a recognized non profit and they know what they are doing. I'm sure Barry A Stevens would not mind giving you some suggestions. The non profit is called El Puente and it is in Puerto Viejo de Talamamca.

Not sure you would need your US naturalization, unless you are submitting it in place of the birth certificate. I think you are going to have to decide if you are Colombian or a United States citizen for the purposes of this trámite. In Colombia you would go to La Cancilleria for the Apostille, or perhaps maybe a Colombia embassy in the US. http://www.cancilleria.gov.co/tramites_servicios/apostilla_legalizacion
