Take a look at policies available via this website: www.gninsurnace.com. I doubt that INS issues 30-day policies.
Does anyone have a private health insurance company/contact to recommend?
Sharon H. replied:
Dori Lippe Wyatt The Caja is INS insurance and you must be a resident to apply in fact it is required once you are a resident. INS also has another insurance policy that I do not think requires residency. When you are near departing for CR try some travel insurance companies that also cover you out of the country while you are waiting for residency. ARCR has an insurance office in the building, contact Juan Carlos the insurance agent there.

David Leeds -- when my old dog needed bloodwork his samples were sent to the same lab that does human tests. And for about the same price, too.

Yup I know Dori... It's my back up. I go to the states. I have coverage with a company called www.globalrescue.com which is excellent to get me there.. I know it sounds like more which it is. But I can always seek the best care available. CAJA sucks but its good to know I can get in, private is much better but I'm still for a specialist in the states over CR just feel safer with doctors in the states. How much longer I'll pay will depend on Oxfords rates. I'm single and the only employee so my rate is better than a personal.. Which means I can hit any state with a company plan and get medical care. No referrals. And with Global Rescue I got ambulatory service covered .
I am looking for a good but less expensive medical plan than the INS private Insurance plan. does anyone know of another insurance company in costa Rica that will give...

Bupa seems to be the lowest but require a few tests and exams prior to approval. The only affordable plan they have is the Critical Care Plan however it is very limited. Most plans are limited or not at all as you get older. We just received information from Amnet or Tigo that you can add to your bill that is a family plan but limited to office visits and ambulance service also house visits for $20-$40 a month. Looks like it also covers specialists visits but only 12 per year. It even covers your pets 4 visits per year. I am trying to get details on this from Tigo.

Trisha Spinelli With the Bupa they will consider pre existing but the Tigo plan I do not believe does. However that plan does not seem to cover Hospital only DR,specialists, Ambulance and home visits. Hopefully they email the info and list of Drs.etc.

I am going to Coco the middle of the week and I think I will check with Clinica Biblica in the Do It Center complex to see if they are connected as if seems the Drs are connected to Biblica but not sure . If you call them please update your info. Thanks Gary Lindquist & Trisha Spinelli
