Any recommendations for some fun antique/thrift store shopping for a day trip? My mom will be visiting in a couple of weeks and we both like wondering around interesting...

Downtown Asheboro seems to be fueled entirely by thrift shops and flea markets. Seriously, I think there are 4 on their main street. It's an hour and a half away, but I think it's just what you're looking for. Eat lunch at Mike's Chicago Dogs and More.

Durham Scrap Exchange is a must see. They have a standard thrift store and a giant craft section full of scraps and odds and ends. Definitely not traditional thrift store.

Old Hardware Antiques in Cameron, not inexpensive but definitely a cut above. Nice deli cafe downstairs. Town has a few other shops which are worth browsing. About a 60 min drive from Raleigh. Might be a fun day trip.

Durham rescue mission has a huge warehouse off of Glenwood imbetween Durham and Raleigh with loads of random crap. For antiques I mainly go to the flea market at the state fairgrounds on the weekends, if you want more smaller stuff I would check up near wake forest, a good place is Gresham lake antiques, pretty huge antique store.

Pigfish and Hunt & Gather in Raleigh. Melville Trading Company in Mebane. And a few small stores in Sanford are worth the drive.

Granddaddy’s antique mall in Burlington, the place is absolutely massive and I always spend hours in there.
[Request] Brand or store for furniture We are looking to buy new furniture for our house and are willing to spend the money to get good quality. We don't want to buy...

DWR is excellent quality, as is Knoll and Restoration Hardware.

+ Room & Board + Gold + Williams + Crate & Barrel Those are all decent stores. If money is no object, find a local design store. I bought my Hickory Chair sofa through a local designer because I needed a custom size and it wasn't really that bad of a price.

Stickley. Expensive, made for several lifetimes. Editing to add: I fell in love with their bison leather chairs. Can't afford right now.

I've used my [This End Up dining room table](https://www.thisendup.com/item/221/ClassicSolidWoodDiningTable.htm) for a motorcycle ramp into a moving truck during 3 moves. Handles a 1500 Kawasaki and dinner for 6 without issue. I had to look up what contemporary was, but maybe their upholstered selection would meet some of that style?

Ikea actually does have some higher-end furniture that is made from solid wood that I have heard lots of good things about.
