Petit Louis is now at the lake front also. Unlike the one downtown, it's cosy but lacks the old-world charm (in my opinion). However, the food and service will not disappoint you.

We love Iron Bridge and Highland Inn. If you like good Chinese food we enjoy Hunan Manor too! For sushi we love Sushi Sono by the Columbia mall- plus you can catch a movie afterwards! We liked Petit Louis but found the food to be comparable to Highland Inn and like the ambiance at HI better. Have fun!

Thanks all! We've done Stanford Grill and Cuba de Ayer, both great places!

The Ale House in Columbia, Stanford Grill is good too

Xitomate (OMG! So good) and SUSHI SONO! The Dragon Roll (SOOOO good) and the Scallop roll (which sounds like it has a weird sauce, but it tastes nothing like it sounds and it's awesome). The fresh (as opposed to smoked) salmon is fabulous. I've eaten sushi everywhere I've ever been and sushi Sono is the best. Oh!!!! Pasta Plus. Get there before they open because people start lining up, but it's really really good.

A few others....Lia's in Chevy Chase has great pasta...and portions are huge (if that matters) even bumped into Biden there for lunch! It's across from the Whole Foods. Also, the original/owner Chef (Pedro) of 8407 Kitchen is long gone, so it has changed...He's now at Mixed Bar and Grill in Potomac, but one is opening this fall in Silver Springs...he's a great Chef! But if you want fine dining and great service at reasonable prices you really need to go to Chevy Chase, Bethesda, - DC and Baltimore is a bit more expensive.

Does anyone know the name of the restaurant that used to be located across the street from the Lensic on West San Francisco St? In the 70s, my dad and I used to go there...

Tia Sophias?
Manny V. replied:
http://www.tiasophias.com/history/ Their history tab says they USED to be at 125 West San Francisco street and that they moved to "210 West San Francisco Street in 1982!" That is, they moved down the street at about that time. Now it all makes sense! I only wish we had known that THEN!

Why doesn't anyone ever recommend La Tabla De Los Santos? Do they know something I don't? OP: haven't been there in a while but that was the last place I went. Hella expensive, wonderful food. It's a honeymoon kinda place. Maybe I'll go again in September
