Dr Andrea Rapkin(310) 794-7274 for everything gyno related concerns that a typical gyno can't take care of/knows how to treat (ie pelvic pain, chronic pain, chronic lady issues) I recommend her to all of my sex therapy clients. And she's in the UCLA system which a lot of insurance companies cover but getting an appointment is extremely challenging since she's so popular.

Dr. Vogel in Santa Monica is a great OBGYN - I mean, I just let her cut me open and remove a cyst from my ovary, so I trust her ;)

Ally Ertel, you have a good memory! Unfortunately, no, the lady I went to was named Dr. Anita Pepi and she pushed non-vegan products on me, told me I wouldn't be able to get pregnant without fish oil, and that my body (by following a high fruit diet) was attacking itself and effectively shutting down. I was a hysterical mess when I left her office and she did this weird hand tapping shit the entire time. I wound up finding an OBGYN in the Kaiser Permanente system (my husband works for the City of Pasadena so our health insurance is very cheap) and found a great doctor who is incredibly accepting of my lifestyle and not once has he tried to push meds on me. he's very into healing the body naturally and THEN if all else fails, looking into meds. KP is pro-vegan and if you look hard enough sometimes within the conventional system you can find really great TRUE doctors. I wish I could have found a naturopath or offer more help on this topic, but all I can say is do some serious research before you go pay $250 dollars for a consultation with someone..make sure they have a yelp page. this lady didn't and all I found were glowing testimonials which I guess should have been a red flag..I also found out later that she was a scientologist so all her wonky dramatics makes much more sense now.

Just realized it's been a while since I've had a "check up". Can anyone recommend a good general practitioner in the south bay?

Just found a new doc, and she was awesome. We talked about wine and shopping and she didn't make me feel guilty about either - Megan O'bryan in Redondo.
