Lost in Malibu. Randomly driving. No clue where to stay that doesn't cost a fortune. Couch anyone? Or recommend a reasonably priced hotel that's not seedy? Help!

I rented a beach house in Newport on vrbo.com . I highly recommend that route. Not much more than a hotel and it was amazing.

Bahia Hotel on Mission Bay in San Diego. Beachfront room (not beach view). 100 feet from the sand and right on the bay.
