The Alvarez Brothers are very nice people. So is Guy Targonski. Having owned RupCoe Plumbing for 28 years, I know them all. The problem with old valves are; they can be unreliable and leak. You can try to tighten up on the packing nut but if it cracks then it could be leaking bigtime. You would have been better off letting it drip into a bucket for a while. That's the nature of plumbing valves and appurtenances; they deteriorate(corrode) over time because of the water. What you need is a ball valve installed. They're easy to operate in an emergency and reliable. Our number is: 732-238-3321. We would love to help you

Cathy, I have used Rup Coe. i had an emergency. They came right away, took care of the problem and the price was very reasonable. I was very happy with them. My father had also used them over the years and thats how I found out about them.

Just wanted to say that although my brother Jim owns his own plumbing business, he also served on his weekends and days off with his brothers from Sayrewoods Bible Church cleaning debris out of homes that were ravaged by flood waters. He has seen your destruction and pain firsthand. I doubt he would be looking to rip any of you off.

I've used AJ Perri and they were expensive.

It's done. Used Rich's Plumbing Service. Only $85 for a night visit. This heater is close to 20 years old and we hear a thumping sound after re-lit, so there may be a small leak from the tank, although noticed no water. I found Rich's by googling.
