Hello, I'm new to the board and excited to be a part of it! I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for a home architect and general contractor. Thank you!

For architectural designs, you might try Rockwood Design. I haven't personally worked with them before, but have spoken with him about a possible project in the past and thought they were very helpful. They have a great reputation from a few contractors and friends I trust as well. http://www.rockwooddesign.com/ For a "GC" hard to recommend someone without knowing scope of project...

Peter Smith of Duxbury is a reliable and talented architect. Office goes by Campbell Smith Architects in Duxbury. I've seen his own house and it is a warm, attractive, restored antique. He is also a good communicator which you need when doing a project!
Shannon K. replied:
Heidi Condon is a great architect!!!
Jim H. replied:
Gabrielle Svenning Dorsey - welcome! Depending on your needs, an architect may be overdoing it. New home with lots of very unique features - sure. New home with standard styles or renovations, you might look to one of our really good local builders to sit down with you and go over some possibilities. Most of them have lots of pre-designed layouts that, even with significant modifications, might be just what you're looking for. PM me and I can refer a few of them, or the town building department can supply a list of several.
Shannon K. replied:
Oh and I can attest that Steve Fabrizio is awesome. I'm a realtor and have seen several of his projects. He does a great job. I also have some others if you are so interested in getting a few quotes.

Laura, I don't believe they do landscape design but I'm not sure. I have always used GC McGowan Design for our hardscapes and plant selections. Greg the owner has great ideas, but is a friend so mild disclaimer that I may be biased...:) He can do virtual designs and layouts of your property so you can really see what things will look like before a shovel hits the soil, which is awesome, especially if you are undecided on a certain aspect of your project. http://www.gcmcgowandesign.com/

Marc Hitchcock for plans and John O'Keefe for contractor. Both local and awesome. Marc is so reasonable price-wise and has great ideas and John is the real deal, knows his stuff. No corners cut, no shoddy work. Cannot recommend them highly enough. We just finished a second floor addition.

We used Peter Campbell from Campbell Smith in Duxbury. He make our addition look like it has been here all along which is important with an old house! Good luck.
Joan L. replied:
Peter Smith from Duxbury. His last name is Smith, not Campbell. Campbell is his wife's name and she is also an architect. I've been to their own house and it is a renovated antique -- totally gracious and lovely, yet retaining the coziness and character of the original. Tell him I sent you.
