Nut Free Vegan Advice I'm trying to help my friend with a severe but allergy transition to a vegan diet, does anyone have any advice, recipes or restaurants in NYC they...

Given they have an allergy they probably already know cooking at home is best. I love making stir fries because you can use whatever you have on hand and even target certain nutrition needs depending on what you're after, all while varying taste a good bit. Spices are key. The rice stretches it too. Never been to NYC though so I can't help you there.

I’m in nyc and absolutely would not trust restaurants with a severe nut allergy vegan or not. Servers couldn’t care less generally and know very little about food preparation. [purple carrot](https://www.purplecarrot.com) would be a good option, they clearly mark what meals contain nuts. I’m sure they must do a lot of their own meal prep already but purple carrot is a nice helping hand to get used to making vegan meals and how what ingredients work together.
I know this is a stretch, but here goes. My cousin is planning a wedding in Ft Wayne Indiana and now is wondering about a nice restaurant for a dinner that weekend. ...

Due to an auto immune disease I can no longer have gluten
Libby C. replied:
Your best bet is to call and ask if they offer a gluten free menu. I know Burtons Grill at derby street is GF and the BBC in Hanover is also. There's options, you just have to find them.
Marie S. replied:
Mill wharf has GF burger rolls, China Gourmet makes a few GF dishes, Maria,s GF pizza is good. Stars in Hingham has many options and Strawberry Fair n Hingham has GF bread. I do have Celiac.

I have celiac and have eaten at TK O'Malleys in town. Alma Nove & Tosca (on N. Street) in Hingham were both really good. Orta in Pembroke has GF options. There's British Beer Co. in Pembroke & we also liked The Fours on Washington St. in Norwell.
Ok looking for help .. My daughter is allergic to egg and soy .. I'm looking for a local restaurant that does not use soy oil .. Egg we can work with but soy is harder...
Angel F. replied:
This web page allows you to type in your allergy and it will give you list of restaurant. http://www.allergyeats.com/
Amy C. replied:
Duncan Hines Blue Velvet cake mix is soy-free. And some angel food cake mixes...that's about it unless you bake from scratch!
Michelle M. replied:
The only thing on the menu at O'charley's is the Cedar plank Salmon. I am not allergic but I have a severe intolerance to soy... Google the restaurant you want to go to but add allergies. Most will come up with a menu that shows dishes that have or do not have various ingredients. Cracker Barrel has become my favorite restaurant.
Julie M. replied:
Jennie Burton can probably help you. She's very knowledgable
Amy C. replied:
chick-fil-a, but only the fries. And Five Guys is our favorite place to eat since my daughter was diagnosed with soy (and soybean oil) allergies. She gets a hot dog without the bun and fries at Five Guys. Also, if you take your own dressing, salads are usually pretty safe anywhere (skip the croutons).
Just have to give a huge shout out to the wonderful people at Shaker's painting. Even tho I live in Braintree, as most of you know I own a restaurant here in Scituate...
