Hello - has anyone ever had a vet prescribe Apoquel to treat allergies in their Westies?
Lynn B. replied:
My advice is to stop the itch scratch cycle use a baby grow or something with legs in and don't touch the drugs it can have nasty side effects, I also use www.petnat.com Dermacton cream and wash bar all natural take a look.

Thank you all - appreciate your comments. I've already ordered the wellness salmon and potato food from chewy.com (great website and shipping is so fast). I never thought of it until reading your comments but the treats I give them have chicken in it!! No more of those. Carrots now or peanut butter. I give mine a greenie every day - does anyone else give their Westie a greenie? I'm wondering if that could be causing something now.

Corrine Kanterman according to my dermatologist the best grain free kibble is Wellness Simple Limited ingredient salmon or rabbit. Jackson stopped itching within days of taking him off of the raw and putting him on the Wellness. He was taking 3 Benedryl a day for his itching. He can't have Apoquel because he gets Ivermectin daily to keep his Demodex at bay.

Hi
i have a dog who is going to need minor eye surgery for cherry eye. Are you willing to name the vet you used for your dogs eye surgery? Did...
Lisa R. replied:
Dr Sapienza at Long Island Veterinary Specialists. He saved my poodles eye! He was terrific. Yes my dog had to stay over 1 night for observation and it was a bit complicated.
Nancy H. replied:
Thank you for Dr. Sapienza. This is an operation on the third eyelid, doesn't really need an ophthalmologist to perform. My vet is affiliated with a similar 24 hr., multi specialty service in west hills. I'm looking for a vet, close to home to perform this and to be able to bring her home, if medically stable, that evening. My girls are rescues who came with a lot of baggage and being kept overnight for a relatively simple procedure would be very traumatic for them.

Hi, Nancy! We used Dr. Jeffrey Strom at https://www.facebook.com/115048845223370Hilton Hospital for Animals in Lynbrook. He was SO GOOD to Dallas, and he let her come home that night! Her eyes look fantastic now, and he was very pleased at how the surgery came out. Though Lynbrook isn't really local, Justin and I highly recommend him for any eye surgeries, as well as any other procedures, and we couldn't have been happier!
Tracy B. replied:
Oh, wow! Growing up all of our dogs saw Dr. Strom! He's wonderful.
