There is a little office of OK Taxi company inside the terminal 1 building, right in front of Arrivals - ask for a taxi at the desk - it is less than 10 euro to the city centre. Don't take chances with taxis waiting outside the building.

Strongly depends on which part of Bali you want to stay. I spent three night in Alam Terrace Cottages in Ubud which was very close to the main attractions of the city. Then I was living at a friend's place but right next to it was Koa D'Surfer Hotel. However, this area called Canggu is quite far from the main touristy places like Seminyak, Kuta and Nusa Dua. Anyways, when making your bookings check both booking.com and agoda.com - I usually use the first but agoda has way more offers for the SEA region.
