Can anyone recommend a reputable Neurosurgeon here in Spring Hill, or close by as in Spring Hill, Brooksville, Hudson? (I prefer not going as far as Tampa). Thank you...
Jeanne B. replied:
Jeff, everyone is trying to get me to go back home (rochester) to see Dr. Maxwell at Rochester General. I would, but I know all about what neck surgery entails and it would be way too long to be away from my husband, my home..here in Spring Hill. Thank you so much, I would really appreciate you asking your wife. Please let me know, thank you!
Jeff S. replied:
Jeanne, I just called her she recommends Dr Manubay. If he can't do it he will recommend a surgeon that can.

A little back ground to help know why I'm asking for a Neurosurgeon. I have had neck surgery (C5-C6) in 1997 in Rochester, NY. I was fine until May 2010 when I had to have C4-C5 fused. October 2013 I had a complete MRI done from neck down to tail bo ne. Bottom line, the results showed surgery was needed at C3-C4 and C6-C7 and also to have Neuro Stimulator surgery for lower back. This past December I had the Neuro Stimulator surgery done but two weeks later x-rays showed that the left lead moved over and joined the right lead. My doctor won't fix it, therefore I went through it for nothing. So...now I feel I need to see a Neurosurgeon for a 2 nd opinion regarding the stimulator malfunction and my neck issues that have not been addressed. I've been referred to a doctor here in Spring Hill, but he declinded me before seeing me because he does not like cleaning up after another doctor. I'm at a loss as to where to go next, but hoping for somewhere close to me because while my car is very much driveable, I'm a little fearful of going to far with it due to some work needed on it. So sorry for the long explanation, and thank you for your help.

How about Dr. Opie Halloway, with a name like that how can you go wrong.. Ok now i am pulling no punches, a couple garbage plates will really cure what ails ya.
Jeanne B. replied:
LOL Jeff, loved those garbage plates! Dr. Opie Halloway is in his 80's and no disrepect towards him but I would prefer someone younger dealing with my spine.
Amy L. replied:
Definitely go to USF Health..in Tampa...you can find them online and see which doctors specializes in your specific area of need.
Jeanne B. replied:
Thank you Barbara, I will keep Dr. Robertson in mind. I'm hoping to find someone closer, as in Spring Hill, Brooksville, Hudson.
Robin T. replied:
I work in the healthcare field in Hernando County and unfortunately there just aren't any neurosurgeons here to recommend. My advice is to see Dr. Jack Maniscalco (board certified neurosurgeon) at Neurological Specialties in Tampa. He is close to Raymond James stadium so it's a quick trip down the parkway.
April A. replied:
Dr Saleh is no longer in Brooksville, have you tried Giannakopoulos George MD 11425 U.S. 19, Port Richey, FL (727) 861-2332
Jeff S. replied:
One last attempt Dr. Esther Wylen
Jeanne B. replied:
Thanks Jeff Salvatore, I will check into Dr. Esther Wylen.
Robin T. replied:
Dr Wylen isn't in private practice anymore, she works for Hospice now.

Ive been to so many down here with my son and for yrs our original pedi here recommended Dr Rao in Tampa in W St Isabel St and I finally gave in and tried him two yrs ago and after 12 yrs of telling Drs and teachers that this guy was like talking to a brick wall and he didnt get what was being said to him he suggested had he be tested for auditory processing and after a 15 mos wait I was told that is what he has! His number is 8138763873! So worth checking him out! My son has a rare metabolic disease which causes so many medical issues and he doesnt believe he can do anything and Dr Rao told him he can be anything he wants and now he wants to be a ER dr! Dr Rao is very intelligent and spends time talking and listening to you and explains the MRI! I was finally put at ease!
Long shot but worth a try. Anybody here know of a neurologist that has experience with the VNS for epilepsy? Would MUCH appreciate some names and such if possible....
