The Barrell was a big part of growing up in Osburn. The Hamer family lived there and ran it. They actually had a movie screen outside and showed cartoons for kids in the summer. Loved going there for their "fresh" huckleberry pie Hardly ever went inside. Loved the drive up. The Silver Hills school is now the grade school up to sixth grade then on to Wallace.

We lived just down the street from The Barrel. I loved that place.

The Hamers lived upstairs at the Barrel. Karen married Marv Williams and they moved to Coeur dalene. I think they still live there

When June Hammer ran The Barrel, there was no school across the street. Osburn Grade School was in the middle of town and we went to the Junior High in Wallace.
