A “rusty” tie rod does not fail Va safety inspection. Can you be more specific?

Drive European in Falls Church, Sam is great and we’ve been going 20+ years. He doesn’t just do European vehicles and is super laid back. Only “complaint” I have is they don’t really have much in the way of waiting space or places to go nearby.

I have gone to Bill at Arlington Forest Service center by the landmark mall for the last few years. He’s the best, will shop around for parts to give you a fair price. And if the guy doing your annual inspection was yanking your chain, he’ll let you know. The guys in shirlington did my inspection one year— I will NEVER go back, they came up with crazy things just to make a quick $$.

I always go to Arlington Autocare. There have been more than a few times where I expected a major bill and was told "Nah, a wire just got loose was all" or the equivalent. So far it's the only place I've been where a repair job was under $100.

What codes came up for the emissions? And a tie rod being rusty will not fail a inspection. It has to be loose, have play in it, to fail. If its a outer tie rod those are not to costly. You will need an alignment after though. Whats the year, make, and model? Where did you have it inspected?

HRM in Springfield has always given me quick and reliable service with reasonable prices without any of the “here little lady” nonsense. It is worth noting that they are closed on Saturday and Sunday.
