Candice B. replied:
You'd be better off to make the drive to Edmonton over going to Dr. Chornell. That man should retire is all I will say.
Ruth V. replied:
As far as I know, Dr. Chornell is the only ophthalmologist in St. Albert. There are plenty of optometrists. Unless there is some specific concern, an optometrist should be adequate & much quicker to book an appointment. Because ophthalmologists are specialist, you will likely require a referral.
Jessica C. replied:
There is only one ophthalmologist in St. Albert but more in Edmonton. You may want to check www.ratethemds.com for ones. I know our friends take their kids into the Stollery/U of A for their ophthalmologist.
Stacy G. replied:
Eye Health Center - Sam Boucher and Sophie Jobin are the doctors both my children have seen. My older boy needed eye surgery at 18 months which Dr. Boucher arranged by getting us in with a surgeon at the U of A. Our boy is now 11 and the awesome care continues with a recent referal by Dr. Boucher to a specialist to help with special exercises to strengthen his eye muscles. So for complex or standard care you cannot go wrong at Eye Health.
Brianne B. replied:
We take my 4 year old to Dr. Solarte (pediatric opthalmologist) at the Stollery/University Hospital. He is AMAZING!!! He just did our daughter's surgery last month and we couldn't be happier
Amanda M. replied:
A referral to to an opthalmologist that works with children is a good idea. My son was seen at the Stollery by Dr. McDonald who ended up doing his two surgeries and it was an overall very good experience.
Irene R. replied:
My daughter sees Dr McDonald as well. I recommend him also.

Belinda E. replied:
Not St Albert but for kids we love Parker Ford MacKay downtown. Ask for George. Costco has messed my prescription up many times and a child might not realize it is not right.
Stacy G. replied:
Eye Health Center has been fitting our son since his first pair at 15 months. The service is the best too
Eleanore G. replied:
Venus Eye Wear on the south side of Edmonton is worth the drive. Great frames designed by owner. Unlimited replacements for two years. A friend of mine had at least two frames replaced in the first couple of weeks with her two year old at no charge. They are great with kids!!! (Adults too)
Ashley C. replied:
Parker Ford MacKay. They are wonderful. Have an amazing selection for kids. Absolutely worth the drive.
Trish B. replied:
Dr Holly Parker in Tudor Glen.
Brianne B. replied:
For children under size 45 (which seemed to be generally the smallest size at a lot of places), I HIGHLY recommend FYI Doctors in West Ed. We've gotten all of our daughter's glasses from there and I basically shopped and investigated every other place possible. They had the best selection of small, fashionable frames in her size (age 3-4). They are also really knowledgeable as far as what lense will fit in what frame and what technology to get in a lense to make it functionable for a preschooler.
