Hi Does anyone know of a surgeon that will do this on adults? My daughter is 18 and has Cerebral Palsy. I know that St Ormands St Hosp in London does them but it is just...

Lyndsay, I sent you a PM yesterday. You are on the right place. Dr. Park is the best at SDR - he's world renowned for his expertise and less invasive technique. Amanda is from New Zealand. Her daughter had SDR with Dr. Park.

Lyndsay Searle feel free to join our small but growing group! Also Dr Park does do adults, and his surgery is one of the best, if not the best in the world. Well worth the trip to see him:) https://www.facebook.com/groups/915787061797222/

Dr. Park will do it but that's in the U.S.

Dr Park does and he is the expert in this surgery. If you CAN make the US work, then that is what I would recommend. With other doctors her in the US, there are much higher risks of complications.
Did anyone need foot reconstruction surgery after SDR and can recommend a skilled surgeon or tips on the surgery? Our girl's feet are deformed from years of spacticity...

We are very happy with Dr. Matthew Dobbs at St. Louis Children's hospital. Granted, he did a hamstring lengthening, for our daughter so I can't speak to the issue of foot reconstruction. Great bedside manner, very knowledgeable and would be happy to talk with you about your child's needs. I would highly recommend getting his opinion.

My daughter just had this surgery done on both feet. We live in Florida and I am very comfortable with her orthopedic surgeon. I do recommend not doing it too close to SDR so they get benefit from that first. We were 3 years post SDR at the time. Results were great. She currently doesn't wear any afo's and has no more pronation. It did have a long recovery. We felt much harder than SDR. My doctor is Dr. Eric Lovless@Nemours in Jacksonville FL

Dr. Matthew Dobbs did a fabulous job on my child's club foot.
Cindy A. replied:
Just make sure you ask lots of questions and research who you chose. We did travel to see Dr. Dobbs for an opinion and I'm in no way saying he's not qualified, he just didn't think my daughter needed it. With that we went home and rode it out a little longer but she benefited too much from SDR and her feet were holding her back. She did a 5k at school and both arches had huge blisters within the first 15 min. We tried new afo's and nothing helped. She has been with her ortho since she was a baby and he has always told me this surgery would come one day but we wait till it bothers her and she complains of pain and well... We were at that point. A huge thing for me is that she has no hardware in her feet. No screws or anything. They used a cadaver bone graft . Pins were placed but they got removed after her casts came off. Make sure whoever you go with has lots of experienced with ankles. That's important. Nothing in was daughter was fused either. That was huge for me. She can now run on a treadmill!
