Rebecca, if you can still hear the motor, it's probably the Window Regulator in the door. I know older Dodges are bad for this. I had to lift my driver's window and wedge it in place temporarily. If you can hear the motor, don't play with the switch anymore, as the cable could get tangled worse. This can be a tough job, but if things aren't too tangled or broken, it's possible to fix without parts.
