Can anyone recommend a dental surgeon for the removal of a wisdom tooth in Tel Aviv who takes Maccabi? Thanks!
Nick R. replied:
I have one near the cinemateque I've been going to for 20 years. His prices are better than this "take maccabi" thing which is kind of a scam anyway he's really good and I have maccabi. ilan avraham 03-6964876 shprintzek 3

Dr. Yosef Avrahami is highly recommended. I don't think he "takes maccabi" but his pricing level is resonable and he's very kind. 052-2738198 Nordau St.

Pedicure Centre in Ramat Aviv, next to Tel Aviv. 3 great chiropodists there. 03-6415994. Good luck
Useful tip if you have private health insurance and need an operation. I had a small op and my insurance paid me 10,000 to do the op via macabi zahav and not privately....

Since I don't do the quotes, I'm not sure that the reform didn't pass. I don't think it did but of course someone like Danny Newman who works in that area can give specifics.

Jeffrey Aftel. Have your agent check it out. I saw on the news they gave a payout to women who had emergency caesarians

2) For the last couple of years, there is a type of policy on the market, e.g. the Phoenix plans called "Kav Pitzui Mahir" or "Kav Pitzui Mahir Metzumtzam", where one can purchase a "compensation" policy that will pay out money irrespective of where the procedure is done (private or public), which the patient can use for whatever they wish, such as to assist with any other unforeseen costs incurred by being incapacitated for the short period of time when the procedure took place. These plans may no longer be marketed following the impending changes mentioned in point number 4 below. 3) Towards the latter half of 2014, the the Health Minister (Yael German) looked at making major changes to both the public and private health sectors. Some for the better, others for the worse. As the reforms were set to pass and go into implementation, the previous government disbanded, and the health reforms were shelved. This may be the reform that Moshe Maeir may be thinking of. Yes there were and are some small areas of double insurance in specific scenarios, but the private sector is currently unfortunately required to fill in the gaps where the public sector is not yet able to solve, where maybe it should be doing so in an ideal world. The vast majority of cover within private plans covers areas neither covered adequately by the Kupot Cholim or in certain cases, not covered at all. Either way, this reform was cancelled, but at any stage could be the basis for a future reform. Hopefully though in a far better thought out way than the previous reform was planned. This article explains the changes that were about to go through, and that were shelved following the collapse of the previous coalition. http://goldfus-ins.co.il/logic_eng.asp?id=87&SUBJECT=Article:%20Government%20reforms%20are%20going%20to%20change%20your%20Kupat%20Cholim%20coverage;%20are%20you%20prepared?
surgeon recommendation with Meuhedet for a hand specialist (Carpal tunnel)?
Fliss K. replied:
Trust - Dr Yoram Ozer, he's in hamasger, in the Electra (?) building. He speaks English too, and in my case, found the break which the Terem dr didn't. I'm pretty sure he takes all kupot.
Scott K. replied:
The best hand surgeon (I know from experience) in the country and possibly this hemisphere is Dr. Carole Pidhorz in Hadassah Ein Kerem. You can make an appointment through their private clinic (Sharap). Your kupat cholim will partially reimburse you. It's worth the trip and the expense.
