Hey, so I want to be a veterinarian who researches zoonotic diseases. I live in the NE Ohio area (Cleveland basically) and was wondering if anyone knew of any places I...
Christopher D. replied:
this is right up my alley. So it really depends on if your willing to travel or not? What is your undergrad major? There are numerous options i know of down by me and one Online program. The University Of Florida has http the medical entomology laborat ory that if you can score an Undergrad internship would really look good on your CV http://fmel.ifas.ufl.edu/ Second if you cant make it all the way down to florida look at there online certificate in medical entomology. It focuses highly on zoonotic transmision and vector control. Maybe search OneHealth Innitiative internships or check out this site http://onehealthinitiative.com/
Christopher D. replied:
If you are interested in the online certificate in Medical Entomology the POC is Ruth Brumbaugh, Student Services Coordinator (First Contact) Tel: (352) 273-3912 Email: brumbaug@ufl.edu
Susan K. replied:
This is what I want to do as well. If I do not get accepted this year, I am applying to Tufts for a 1 year Masters in Science in Infectious Diseases and Global Health. POC is Dr. Abhineet Sheoran. Looks like a fabulous program.
Anyone know of a good Vet for Ginger for a check-up? She’s healthy! Just needs updated shots. I’ll be sure to get her ice cream after :)
Jeanne P. replied:
we like Weaver Animal Hospital and Care on Route 25
Carol Y. replied:
Is Ginger a kitty? We've been taking our cats to Cat Tales the Clinic for Cats on Airport Hwy. No doggy smells or noise to stress a kitty. Even our ex-feral neuter kitty is relaxed there!

Dr A at west side animal in sylvania. It’s a small vet and really really reasonable. He is the absolute best! My grandma took her dogs there for the first time after I had been begging her to take them there. He spent over an hour with us and told us tons of things about her 8 year old shih zip that her old vet never even mentioned.

Ed J. replied:
West Toledo Animal Hospital is great. With that being said ....Anywhere but Grabers should be good. Very incompetent.
Wendy B. replied:
Lewis Animal Hospital = the Best! Affordable care in your neighborhood. 419-476-9105. They are great with your pets and aren't expensive like others (especially nearby ).
Ann U. replied:
Shoreland Animal Hospital, Dr. Sara and Dr. Brown are the best!
Kathy A. replied:
Country Squire on Navarre! The best and reasonable.
Elicia H. replied:
I had a bad experience at Country Squire. They misdiagnosed a skin infection and allergies by saying my dog needed more walks. The very first visit was reasonable but the office call cost got higher when I went for the 2 nd visit. I didn't go back.
Any recommendations on a vet? I've started noticing a couple of bald spots on my puppy's head and want to get him checked out to rule out anything serious.
Melody E. replied:
I don't trust anyone but Dr. Sara at Shoreland with my pets. She is absolutely wonderful! They are a little pricier than the other vets, but I always say you get what you pay for. Their care and compassion is 1 of a kind and I highly recommend Dr. Sara!
Lori S. replied:
Temperance Animal
Lisa R. replied:
Dr Brown at Shoreland, the best. Another vet wanted to put my old dog down due to a "back" problem, that ended up being a stomach bug. Thank goodness we waited to see Dr Brown who read the same X-ray and knew it wasn't a back problem.
