#36 On this one mentions the live juvenile roach behind the bar….Not sure how they determine the roach was a juvenile unless they asked for ID. LOL (http://www.ksda.gov/direct.aspx?reportName=WWRQST2Insp&inspID=30000455

This one mentions the fruit flies in the liquor…they were however not listed as juvenile… http://www.ksda.gov/direct.aspx?reportName=WWRQST2Insp&inspID=30000310
Walter H. replied:
I don't know, maybe it's on the site. The one with the underage roach was from December….that's only 3 months. I thought they only inspect a couple of times a year. Jerry…Could have eaten all of my meals at Caretta's (and sometimes I felt like I did…lol) but despite my strong desire to support hometown establishments those establishments also have a responsibility to me, the consumer. It is a two way street. Those Caretta's dollars stayed in Gardner for the most part…Austin's gets them! LOL

Definitely Tang Flavor. Quite traditional, and filled with Asian customers. Also Bamboo House (downtown near Dino BBQ) is very traditional.
The mention of Coney Island brought up another restaurant I used to go to while working downtown - The Lunch Box by the Union Bus Station on Sheridan. It closed for a...
Lunch Box is currently closed, but has a sign saying 'reopening soon'. However, no signs of life around there at all. I think construction on Devon Tower and the roads might have been the end of the place, since traffic was so restricted for so long.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0615278299?pc_redir=1403033977&robot_redir=1. This is an amazing book about the history of A&W root beer. This author says that the restaurant franchises, the canned and bottled division, and the various owners of the brand have battled against each other illustrating how not to run a company.

This was an early attempt at vegetarian and organic restaurant. We ate there. An admirable effort but not likely to succeed in this city. Similar menus at that time in Lawrence at Sister Kettles Cafe and Cornucopia.
