I also am a disabled person with a service dog and very much appreciate and echo what Coralie Donkers said. From your description, it sounds like perhaps training her to be a Therapy Dog might fit with your volunteer activities? That said, I am not familiar with your needs, so can't offer specific advice. Therapy dog handlers are not afforded the same rights as service dog handlers, as the therapy dog is not present to mitigate the handlers disability. Truckee Tahoe Humane Society has a Therapy Dog program and work with the hospital. That could be a great resource if it is in line with your needs and desires.

Worth the extra effort for the drive would be Canine Purpose in Loomis - they also usually have Saturday group classes. They are well experienced in larger more challenging breeds.

I'd wholeheartedly agree with Jeannie Collins at Beyond Obedience. She's trained all our dogs & is great with any dog, any situation & uses positive reinforcement.

How old? My 7 month old is at Silver State Kennels in Lemmon Valley right now for training
