This may seem like a silly question, but is the Walton Vet Clinic, Dr Meiman a male or female? Our dog is female & she is very shy around males so I only take her to females. lol My vet office is great but very expensive.

Hebron Animal Clinic has gotten way too expensive, plus just recently I tried to get one of my cats in (Sat) (I thought he had an urinary obstruction, which is very serious) and Karen said, "We can't get you in until Monday". I have been a customer there for at least 15 yrs, needless to say, I am done with them! Just food for thought for others. Pet Wow has been very caring!

If you're willing to take a bit of a drive, Dr Twehues in Williamstown is the most compassionate vet I've encountered. He takes the time to explain everything, gives you different options and is very reasonably priced.

We use Dr Keither 859-578-0578 ... he treats in your home...even 'fixed' both of our cats at home .... feels it is safer with less chance of infection...and the animals don't get all freaked out going to the vet!!

Loved Noah Ark till 2009 when I went to pick up my English bulldog after vacation. She was in for 5 days and gained 7 pounds and a nasty infection. To her back next day, ran tests. Weeks later still sick, I took her back. More tests but never heard from them. Called them only to find out that her test came back 4 days before I called and she had lymphoma cancer. NO ONE CALLE TO TELL ME! never been back. Needless to say, I had to put her down the day before I brought my twins home from the hospital.

I second the story of trying Union Animal Hospital soon after our move, but switching after a couple of visits. They were good, but the pricing and treatment options just didn't seem realistic. We go to Dr. Dan at Florence Veterinary Hospital and love it.

Simpson Veterinary in Walton is excellent and much more affordable than any vet that I have taken my dogs to. 485-6555 is their #.

Lewis Animal Hospital worked well for me. The lead vet directly addresses the cost issue in a non-judgmental way. When my cat was having trouble, he offered me a few different options, told me what each cost and the impact of each choice.

Simpson Veterinary is awesome! They vet my dogs and horses.

Middendorf Animal Hospital is my favorite - but I'm biased! It isn't the cheapest, but I think the doctors and staff is worth is ... If you go to the Middendorf website you can get an exam for 1/2 off ... A good way to get into the doors to meet the staff and get an estimate for your dog's dental work without paying a full exam fee.

We tried Union Animal Hospital when we moved here in January. Liked the vet, but spent way too much. Switched to Dr. Huesing and found a great vet with great staff and reasonable prices. I don't mind anyone making an honest wage, but some of these vet's prices are ridiculous. IMO.

Dr. Meiman is the best! We have sent every person in our neighborhood to him because we have used him for many, many years. He is such a caring vet and prices can't be beat. He isn't in it for the money.....he does it because he cares about the animals and their families. Just can't say enough nice about him!

Wow, I'd say.....we go to Middendorf Animal Hospital and Laser Centre on Mt Zion, next to Kroger. Just got a quote yesterday to pull an abscessed tooth for our Chihuahua for $620, for comparison. We really like Dr M!

Dr Barry Huesing located off Dixie Hwy in Erlanger right next to the Dixie Chili been using him off and on for over 30 years. Best prices, is great with animals, family run business, and has come in on Sundays to meet at his office if your animal is under his treatment and very sick.

You're going to get 42 different answers from everyone who recommends the vet they use. Dr. Kordenbrock at Burlington Animal Hospital has saved our dog's life more than once. We have pet insurance. That is a great option to keep major incidents low in cost.

DO NOT GO TO HEBRON!!!! And from my research Burlington $ are the same... I went to Noah's Ark in Ft wright and saw Dr. McGlasson and he was wonderful and the $ was awesome! My dog has GI problems, he had diarrhea for 4 days. Took him in, had an exam, fecal exam, administered an anti-nausea shot there, left w 2 anti-biotic for $70!!!! I also had an estimate for a dental cleaning (mind you his mouth is very bad) $200 no matter if they have to pull teeth or not. Hebron charged us $700 the last time this happened!!!! The only thing w Noah's Ark is it is a walk-in clinic so you may have to wait. Good luck! It pays off to call around and $ check!

I'm looking for the same. I took my dog to Erlanger Animal Hospital for an eye/ear infection and to get a rabies shot and wound up spending over $500. So.... don't go there!

Been very happy with Simpson veterinary clinic in Walton. He takes care of all three of my cats. He's removed a front leg off of one of them that had cancer in it and the cat did well after surgery and minus the one leg.

I second Union Pet Hospital. Dr. Miller (actually all the vets there) are top notch. She treated our lab when he came down with leukemia and he lived 2-1/2 wonderful years beyond diagnosis, which I know wouldn't have been the case in less capable hands. We won't take our pets anywhere else.

Doc Angel passed away several years ago, his son took over and then shut it down. I've had both of my cats spayed, declawed, and all shots at the same time for less than $300. Not really sure how you ended up with a bill for $300 for an ear infection. That's crazy!

Erlanger Veterinary Hosp. Specializes in ortho. Don't know for sure, but I bet they would be less expensive and allow you to make payments. I would also check with Huesing Animal Hosp. Very reasonable, but not sure if he does ortho.

Try calling Dr. Simpson in Walton, not sure if he will set you up on payments, but he is a wonderful vet and his staff is excellent as well. 485-6555

If you don't mind the drive to Louisville, try the Shively Animal Clinic. Their overhead is very low, so their prices are amazing. They're open 7 days a week too (but I would guess they're closed today for the holiday). Even considering gas money--and I drive an SUV--their prices for everything are still way cheaper than anyone around here.

Erlanger vet hospital prices are worse than Banfield and Banfield prices are awful. Call Noahs Ark or Dr Simpson in walton. Love them both and have used both for years.
