Either JoAnns Muslin with a coupon— Prewashed, starched, pieced if not a wide one, and thoroughly pressed—or piece a backing from whatever scraps Both leftover and coordinating in strips and rectangles etc. That gives a modern looking backing that looks like a second quilt

quiltshopofdeland.com is not too far away northeast off interstate 4.
Donna P. replied:
There is a really nice quilt shop in the area called Cotton Patch Quilt Shop. I really enjoyed visiting them when I went to Florida visit.
Cindy H. replied:
I suggest you visit small quilt shops. They have beautiful fabrics, help the local economy and usually very helpful employees. If you shop Joanne's, Hobby Lobby or Walmart you generally will sacrifice quality and definitely sales help. If you are dazzled by the large size then the big box stores might be good for you.
Dawn T. replied:
Check out the Row by Row experience. It will be still be going on when you get the USA. The website is rowbyrowexperience.com. It will also have a list of shops nearest you. If you are going to spend money on fabric for quilting, I go to the quilt shops first. If you do buy from JoAnns make sure you buy the good quality fabric. Not all of the fabric they carry is all that great.
Ginny B. replied:
We have a Joanne's on Rt. 192 in Kissimmee. The Heartfelt Quilt store is on John Young Parkway in Kissimmee. The Sewing Studio is in Maitland - off of Rt. 4 (they are also opened on Sunday afternoons and have a big inventory of fabric.) There are several Walmarts in the Disney area and we have a Hobby Lobby on Osceola Pkwy in Kissimmee.
Bonnye T. replied:
Wal Mart is open 24 hours a day. There are too many of them! I am not a snob, but will not use their low quality fabric on a quilt I put lots of time and effort into. Great deals for small projects, though. Also, JoAnns fat quarters are so skimpy you can see through them! Just, buyer be aware!
Jay D. replied:
Go to www.Quiltinghub.com and it will list all the quilt shops in Florida. I know of two in Orlando: Wandering Stitches and Quilter's Cove. However, you need to keep this in mind - Florida is flat and everywhere is close and easy and the roads are good. Be sure to sign up for a Sunpass when you rent your car. And have fun! (I personally love the quilt shop in Plant City.)
