Alright Facebook friends, I need a vet for my new puppy, and my cats who haven't been to the vet in a while. Give me some great recommendations in the Urbandale/Des...

Nina B. replied:
Dr. Riordan's, they sent us a sympathy card when our Boston Terrier died.
Jennifer E. replied:
We go to Rush Animal care, they are on lower beaver and a bit of a drive but we love them. they do boarding too. Not kidding when i say that our dog Sandy wags her tail and puts feet up on counter when we get there.

I have 1 dog and 1 cat on the wellness plan at Banfield. I love it cause they have a drop off for appt. I get charged a monthly fee and then it includes 2 comprehensive exams twice a year and all necessary vaccines. I do pay for heartworm. It also includes teeth cleaning once a year for premier plans. It's worth checking out. When I got Buster neutered they spread the payment over over a year with his monthly fee. They are in the back at PetSmart Store in Clive
Krista B. replied:
Oaks Vet, great doctors, and when you go in for say their shots, you get charged just for the shots. They don't tack office visit fees on top. When our cat needed put to sleep, Dr Harmon met us after hours on a Sat afternoon, and said there was no charge since he had been her vet. Not fancy but staff is fantastic!! They even treated Jakes guinea pig
Marni R. replied:

I go here in Grimes but for surgeries & big bills, I make a trip to Knoxville/Albia to Garver Animal hospital...they've saved me thousands $$$ on knee surgeries, neuter & vaccinations on our 3 dogs & declaw, etc. on our 2 cats. Well worth the trip!!
John B. replied:
Oaks Vet Clinic near Drake. Great service. Best price.
Dee S. replied:
Northwest Veterinary Hospital at 75 th and Dennis Dr. (1 block South of Douglas).
Max W. replied:
I've been going to Oaks Vet Clinic since '88. Doc Harmann is an ISU grad and always wants to talk sports. It's not one of those fancy places, just caring staff and reasonable prices. It's north of Drake, just off Hickman.
Barbara H. replied:
We go to University West. They are 8145 University and their phone is 223-8185.
Chris K. replied:
Westfield. Behind the Dahls on 86 th in Johnston. Dr Safris and Dr Palin. Great experience for the last 5 years with an allergy prone beagle.
Kris A. replied:
We used Dr Rohret in Adel for 13 years and highly recommend them. Great care and much cheaper than the ones that were close to me in waukee. Also Dr Broderick in waukee comes highly recommended by several friends and have used in emergency and were impressed.
Wendi R. replied:
Dr. Riordon on Douglas across from Walgreens right before Beaver Ave
Karla T. replied:
Dr. Schnoor at Value Vet on 86 th St. He's wonderful and reasonably priced.
Darla W. replied:
We go to University West also, Brian Martz. Super nice guy.
Carol R. replied:
Iowa Vet Acupuncture in Beaverdale. Dr Wilke is great. She an Urbandale resident. She goes above and beyond. When our golden was sick she called to check on him, made special appts, was very good to us in general. Don't worry about the acupuncture part, that isn't a choice they push on you but we did find it worked well for our dog. Good luck deciding!
Denise Z. replied:
Definitely Westfield Veterinary - by Dahls on 86 th and NW 54 th. Steve Safris is an Urbandale guy - 5 years behind us. REALLY great!
Suzanne B. replied:
Dr. Schnoor at Value Vet - 86 th & Meredith. He has been very caring with all of our animals, I can't imagine going anywhere else.
Ellen B. replied:
I talked with my co-worker and she takes her kiddos to Value Vet as well. She said that she loves that she can drop in and LOVES Dr. Schnoor. She goes there because of him. Looks like I will be making a change!
