Has anyone been too Puerto Rico? Advice on hotels and food and do you recommend renting a car or just local transportation? And confirm if a passport was required the...

No passport required. Just normal ID like traveling in the U.S. Old San Juan is beautiful and has many hotels you can stay at and walk around without a vehicle. Only downside is more congestion of people and cars. Many attractions are outside that area and would require transportation (i.e., El Yunque -rainforest, Arecibo telescope, Bacardi Factory, etc..). El Morro - the old spanish fort is within walking distance in Old San Juan. Bigger resorts are going to be located in either Condado area or farther out in other parts of the island. Condado area is not too far from Old San Juan. There are many large hotels with casinos and beaches there. My personal recommendation based on multiple trips is to rent a car 'at least' for part of your stay so you can venture out of whatever area you stay in. Happy travels. It's a beautiful place.

Mt Olympus is a motel 6, it's nasty! We go twice a year and stay at different places. Small water park in a basement! Upside down house is a waste of money, nothing left inside! Deer Park, Zoo next to candy shop, Bartletts exploratory are all awesome!
