interesting, I posted an answer to your question last week and it didn't appear - just had a chance to look at your site again today as we're in the middle of our move back to Canada. We have used a CPA in Victoria for over 12 years - he is very knowledgeable about both Canadian and American tax laws. I highly recommend him. His name is Gerry Bunting. http://www.hutcheson.ca/about-us/gerald-bunting/ British Columbia Personal Tax Return | Corporate Tax Planning Victoria | Hutcheson & Co. www.hutcheson.ca Hutcheson & Co. is Victoria's trusted & experienced Accounting & Tax Firm. Kerry Blain did my taxes when I was an independent consultant. He's a chartered accountant so he's not cheap (he's a personal friend so I got a bit of a discount). But he's very good. It can't hurt to talk to him and at least compare prices with your current guy. Here's his web site (and wow it's awful; this is the first time I've seen it and it was a painful experience): http://www.kjb.bc.ca/index.htm

Talk to Norgaard Neale Camden. They definitely do US tax as well as Canadian but, as they're a CPA CA firm, they're not cheap either. Here's their website http://www.nncltd.com. Good luck.

I recommend avoiding Feil and Company. They handled some work for my buddy and made a mess of it. It cost him a lot of money in penalties with the CRA.

Hi there, I know you are in BC but these guys are in Toronto and offer an online chartered accounting service. Meetings through Skype, digital working papers. They are Chartered Accountants and are pretty good, they do my taxes (spend most of the year in US for my residency) but I am a Canadian citizen. Reasonably priced since they have low overhead...check it out http://www.ndllp.ca

Americans don't pay inheritance tax. Neither do Canadians. While I am not american and no longer have a green card, I recently had an american parent pass in america with holdings in Canada and USA. While it was a nightmare, it was pretty straightforward with a good accountant. I know a guy, DM me for that information. He's in Vancouver but he's very good.
