Hi Rob - tell your wife to join IWG! It's the international women's group of Warsaw and saved my life when we first moved here. There are also lots of Asian women who are a part of the group and can help with the Chinese shops, restaurants, ect. We have a coffee morning tomorrow at 10 AM at Zloty Tarasy at Coffee and Co. (It is on the lower floor next to Carrefour and the other restaurants) and it's for people who have just moved to town and may be interested in joining. We'd love to have her!

Krav Maga is the most effective form of self defence for needing to put someone down very quickly. There are 2 schools I know of, one beside Wilanowska metro and one on Swietokrzyska. The trainers in both places speak English. I would recommend this.
Ravindra K. replied:
yes and I believe they have English classes as well, do give them a call and check it out, I'm thinking of attending myself, there are a bunch of drunkards around my flat who lurk around the 24Hr Alcohol shop and keep harassing me for a beer now and then, when I go to buy my cigarettes, the other day this smarty guy wouldn't take no for an answer and started to hint at my wallet that there's money in there!
