Gem Spa on King at Union is basically my second home. The girls there are highly entertaining and it's a small business run by a young woman so I like supporting that, especially since they are being severely effected by the ION construction. http://www.gemspa.ca/ They do Gelish and have lots of new colours every season. Welcome to KW. You could try out http://kw.nerdnite.com/ or Monday trivia nights at McCabes https://twitter.com/McCabesKW. Seems like a decent way to meet people.

I love Le Nails on Weber/Lincoln in Waterloo. Great family. Try this thread for some fun: https://www.reddit.com/r/kitchener/comments/3 mzvx1/sportactivity_organizers_in_kitchener/ The Kitchener Public Library has book clubs. Welcome to the area!

I would highly recommend K&T nails in the Driftwood Plaza. They know what they're doing. As far as meeting people goes...I dunno. I've tried. The best part about my job as a server is I get to meet a lot of people and my coworkers are super social as well. We all tend to meet people at bars. Like when we go out after work. You could volunteer somewhere like the Humane Society. Or just make sure you're out and about. I meet people when I'm at a coffee shop. Or a book store. Or when I take myself out for drinks/food. That's the part you have to be comfortable with...going out alone. It's not all bad. Trust me. I'm also a 27-year-old female. I get it. EDIT: Don't forget that Oktoberfest starts on Friday too. If you get out to one or more of the events, you could make a friend or two.

As a guy my input on nail salons is limited, however, you could check out http://www.meetup.com and browse the local groups in the KW area. There's almost something for everyone at anytime of day, from group sports to walks, to religious groups to networking to book clubs, dog groups, board games, literally anything

I'm a dude so I can't speak to what they offer or anything but like that but I have a good friend who's an esthetician at Blend Hair Studio. She's pretty awesome and I'd be a terrible friend if I didn't throw that out there. Welcome to Kitchener!

You might enjoy [Nerd Nite KW](http://kw.nerdnite.com/) and the fact that I am freinds with the organizers means that I am totally not biased in the slightest when I say it is a cool thing to attend. Well, OK, maybe slightly. :-)

I've had Marci at Uptown Beauty Lounge and thought she did a fantastic job, though I don't regularly get them done. A friend of mine has gone to Taylor there a few times and said she has done a great job and I believe even had her do them for her wedding!

I can't say enough about Gem Spa! It's a local, independent, woman owned business, which is awesome, but they are also reasonably priced, incredibly welcoming and friendly and they do wonderful work. For years I frequented the high volume nail salons but I just get a terrible feeling about the way the staff are treated and how you are just a butt in a seat at those places. Here is the Gem Spa website, http://gemspa.ca/ . You probably can't just walk in for a manicure but you can make an appointment online.
