Sure there are some bad areas in that circle, but there are plenty of good areas as well. Below is a link to some stuff for rent downtown. My advice would probably be to find a place not walking distance for 3 to 6 months and then begin your long-term search when you get here. Maybe 3 months is too long. You could also stay in AirBnBs for a week or two while you search. This does not help you situation but I would look at the Wilmington Crime map. It has been a few years since I have lived in Wilmington but parts of these areas are pretty dangerous.

The only advice I can give is expand your radius. I don't think my complex off of 17 th Street as breed restrictions, just size, which your dog is fine. I'd also imagine across the bridge in Leland you might find what you're looking for. Best of luck in your search.

Even if it was free, I wouldn't live in that part of Wilmington.

In Wilmington it’s hard to find housing near work, it’s almost something you always have to compromise living here. So I would choose a wider radius for the search and the tribute properties are honestly pretty good about pets. If you find an apartment on market st it’ll be a straight shot to downtown and many of the places I’ve looked at don’t have too many/if any restrictions on breeds.

Wilmington is weird. Even in sketchy ass neighborhoods, you can find blocks that are 100% fine. I lived on 10 th and Queen for two and a half years, two single white girls, with no big issues. People blow shit out of proportion. You can live most anywhere, mind your business, be friendly, and be fine, imo.
