As far as legal goes, you probably need to consult with an attorney in the state where your mother is going to reside. An attorney here in NC is probably not going to be much help. This is particularly true in the case of elder law issues because things are different from state to state. You can check www.naela.org which is the website for the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys for elder law attorneys in Iowa. You can probably find one that would consult with you over the phone if you are not planning to travel to Iowa.
