martino's in somerville continues to be my favorite cuban place. their food is top notch. the only thing to know is that you need to be prepared to wait. they cook everything from scratch and sometimes it can be a bit slow. if colombian food is your thing, check out parador rojo in morris ave in elizabeth. my fav pick from all the colombian places along that whole stretch.

I would love to help, but this question is really too broad to answer. Do you want Mexican? Northern Mexican, southern mexican? Colombian food? Cuban? Dominican? Peruvian? There's so much out there...

Pancho's Mexican grill in South Bound Brook. Small place, mostly take out, but a few tables for sit down, food is great, pretty cheap and friendly people.

Martino's in Somerville, cuban food, it's very good. I think the dude who cooks there was on top chef or something?

Lola's Latin Bistro in Metuchen.

Go past Union into Elizabeth on Morris Ave for great Colombian food

Try Chilangos in Highlands on Bay Ave for Mexican on the shore.

If you're in the mood for Mexican, there's Mis Amigos in Dunellen which is always crowded and the food is always good. Though, if you're willing to venture out to Hunterdon county, Los Chilitos on Rt 22 in Lebanon is the best Mexican I have had in this state. If you like Peruvian, Planet Chicken in Dunellen does not disappoint. While I have not been there yet, many folks highly recommend Roxana's Pupuseria in Middlesex for Salvadorian food. I grew up in Union City so you can't go wrong with most Cuban restaurants in that area, however Martino's Cuban Restaurant in Somerville reminds me of home. Spain Inn in Piscataway is also a popular place if you're in the mood for Spanish/Portuguese and don't want to drive all the way up to the Ironbound District in Newark.
