Dog boarding recommendations? I'll be going out of the country in late October and I'm looking for a very good boarding place for my 1 year old dog for about 9 days....

we use Affectionate Pet Care on Pickett Rd in Fairfax. i don't know if they walk the dogs, but they're not kept in cages. they throw all the dogs together in a big room and give them some back yard time, too. they may separate some larger/more rambunctious dogs, not sure; my wife deals w/ this part of our trips usually. the only drawback for us is that our dog comes home yowling like an idiot for day or two before getting back to normal

Some people are on https://dogvacay.com/ They can look after the dog in their home.

Do not use A Dog's Day Out in Springfield. They kept my dog tied up with a rope for so long she developed rope burn around her neck. I also recommend against Dog Eaze Inn, my dog was fine but they are a mess and charged us different rates every time. We've used Waggin Tails Junction and love them.

Fur get me not in shirlington is great. Dogs have combined play during the morning and afternoon, outside walks, and very well taken care off. We have used them for 5+ days and my little one was happy as can be

My wife and I had to leave the state for a few days and we asked a lady to pet sit. I just got her contact information: Alicia Ferezan / Lucky Dog She came to the house during the day to feed and walk Norman and then she (or her mother, I forget who) actually spent the night in the house with him. So for a *very* reasonable rate we had a dog-sitter, house-sitter, and she took care of our cats too. We were very happy with her work and would highly recommend her services.

Most won't walk dogs outside due to liability. Dogtopia is best, you can just arrange for your pup to have a bath or 2, especially before you pick him up! That's what we've done and it works wonders, they're fluffy, smelling good, and ready to go when you get there!

I oppose dogboarding. What kind of information is that important anyway?

Do NOT go to Dulles Executive Pet Center. When I picked up my dog from there he was so frozen in fear that I had to go into the back to get him out of the cage. When we got him outside it appeared he had not been taken out the entire weekend.

My dog goes to Dogtopia Dulles (Chantilly/South Riding). They have an outdoor area for them so they're not inside all the time. They also bathe them for $15 before they go home. They have webcams and an app you can watch the dogs on your phone.

Definitely Olde Towne Pet Resort in Springfield. A few walks per day, daily doggie playtime for a few hours with other dogs (also viewable via webcam) and a bath before pickup. You can also splurge for extra stuff, like swimming, extra walks, and larger pens/rooms with webcams. You take their own bed and toys, if you've got multiple pets you can pen them together, and it's all around a good experience. My dogs love it, but pugs are pretty hard to disappoint. My top suggestion would be to find a sitter on http://rover.com. You can read descriptions/reviews and find someone that meets your needs. I have 2 that I've used from there, and both were terrific. Alternatively, if you want a boarding place, my top pick would be [Healthy Hound](http://healthyhoundplayground.com/) in Sterling. Your dog will get to play with dogs all day long, and they do take them outside for potty breaks.

I love iCareK9 in Gaithersburg. I take my dog there every day for day care and they are amazing. My dog comes back happy and tired every day! They take the dogs out on individual walks at least 3 times a day, the dogs are separated out by size and energy level for day play and have huge runs for each of the dogs at night. You can even add on some training session for a very nominal fee!

Not totally applicable to OP, but just an FYI for all NOVA dog owners: avoid Reserved Barking at all costs. Do not go there or give them your business. I had a bad experience there which wound up with my dog having to have surgery and the owners yelled at me and blamed me about it, really unscrupulous people behind that place.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good dog sitter or dog boarding in the area? We have two dogs, and need someone to watch them for a couple of days over holidays....

Are you in VA or DC? We used Becky's Pet Care and we were really happy with them. They came 2 x a day when we traveled.
