This is a useful page. Nothing on there in your area, but if you find a good shop you can get it added to the map. https://m.facebook.com/groups/268961586560950

Interesting approach Dave Lawrance. Robert, unfortuantely I am not much of mechanic, but Airbike has a few sites here and is good, same with Bikeman. They close at 2-3 pm today though. Wygodny Rower at Stawki street has good mechanic, AltSport in Wal Miedzeszynski is worth try too and open long.
Bernie W. replied:
Best not to run without them. You risk damaging the splines if it starts to creep off. The first link is a replacement you can tighten with an Allen key, second is the genuine part. http://www.highonbikes.com/drivetrain/chainrings/token-shimano-hollowtech-alloy-crank-arm-bolt-tk-b2009.html?gclid=Cj0KEQjw58 ytBRDMg-HVn4LuqasBEiQAhPkhupMHGIGKcV9 jcbww10 dTas9 pM3WwdP6IKFuRIOkYGvoaAnxE8P8HAQhttp://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/shimano-star-screw-for-left-crank-hollowtech-ii-246797/aid:246799?gclid=Cj0KEQjw58 ytBRDMg-HVn4LuqasBEiQAhPkhuj9 fad0 o5UApgO-DEOmkOFe3PBYDPysW2_25X_XUbA0 aAgAs8P8HAQ
For someone who doesn't like clip in pedals I heard that there is another option. Apparently there is a fabric strap you can add to regularish pedals sort of like some...
Kevin M. replied:
I think you're talking about Power Grips. You can buy them as the straps alone to add to your existing pedals (if they are compatible), or you can buy them as the pedal/strap set. Your local bike shop can order them for you if they don't have them in stock. http://www.powergrips.com
Mike S. replied:
I prefer these -- not a "cage," no straps, easy to get in and out. http://www.modernbike.com/dimension-mini-toe-clips-lg-black
Matt E. replied:
Several companies make stuff like this. http://holdfastordie.com/
Mark H. replied:
Yes, I have been using Power Grips for many years. I need more float than clipless offers and should have a little more stability than just a flat pedal (right knee is almost completely gone, when stiff, I must force it around when I first start peddling). They are at an angle so you get grip by foot being straight. They release gradually with any side movement so they do indeed release more reliably and naturally than clipless pedals.
i don´t know of a shop in vienna which is specialised on touring, but cyclopia is a good shop http://www.ciclopia.at/ and the bike coop has also a good selection on bikes & parts http://www.fahrrad.co.at/Cooperative_Fahrrad/Aktuelles.html

Does anyone know a website or place to get good used (not stolen!!!) bikes in Japan? Thanks.
Mark T. replied:
Craigslist Tokyo? Craigslist is usually in English and used by expats, rather than locals, so the offerings can be sparse at times. Araya make decent touring bikes and there should be a dealer in most large Japanese cities. http://araya-rinkai.jp/bikes2016
One of the best shops for touring is https://www.bike-components.de/en/ (Germany). Doesn't matter where you live. Good for Rohloff, Tubus, Schwalbe and Ortileb. Often cheaper than CRC and Wiggle.

Just as a sidenote, Ewa. After two months of searching and re-searching, was finally able to order a tent hopefully suitable to house us around the world (for a bit) ... at Sklep Podróżnika in Kraków, so THANK YOU for pointing that out. Very useful. Can't believe I didn't know about it or hadn't seen it - it's on a street which I pass by too many times to mention. Still, it's not that obvious a sign if you're not looking for it. But thanks - good to know there's another option close to home:)
Ewa . replied:
Glad I helped! I did visit Sklep Podroznika today in Warsaw too, they are the best. Good travels.
Chris B. replied:
Santos from the Netherlands have nice bicycles. I have one :-) not cheap, but quality and costum built. You can test them (by apontment) in the factory every friday. www.santosbikes.com (website looks to be in Dutch only)
Geoff K. replied:
Thank you for that, Chris, I'll have a look:) No, I appreciate that, Ed, that's why I'm asking to see how many options there might be available (if any). In the course of my searching/research, these kinds of names keep cropping up, of course: Fuji Touring Bike, Kona Sutra Touring Bike, Surly LHT, Surly Disc Trucker, Trek Trek 520 Disc, but it would be nice if I could find a place/some places where I could take some of them for quick test for size, as it doesn't matter how much research you do, till you sit on it, with hopefully an experienced eye looking on, you can never really be sure. Evans Cycles in England seem to offer a wide range or bikes and have branches all over the country but, not having visited one of their shops, I don't know how well-stocked their actual stores are on models available to test. And, it would be nice to see some other options there are outside of those above that I've mentioned (though they're all on my potential list). I mean, it's quite overwhelming seeing what's available, isn't it, and you obviously can't check them all out, but it'd be nice to try and make the best comparison I can from what's available in and around where I'm living, and hopefully make pretty well informed purchase:)
Ewa . replied:
Eric, I am from Warsaw, not Krakow but daresay you will not find a place like Evans Cycles in my country. There are places selling Surly, usualy upon order, there is one Koga dealer in a small town not far from Wroclaw, most of shops would sell Giant, Trek. When I was looking for a bike myslef I just went ot Berlin and bought Koga bike in Zweirad Stadler centre, it is huge bike shop.
Anyone have recommendations on tents that will fit two people and two bikes.

Don't think the chain will stay on the ring without the front derailleur keeping it there and that thing must go. So new CR is in order but it needs to work with Mr. Whirly cranks. Might upgrade rear derailleur as well, especially if I go to a 1 x 10.
