I just happen to be coming back from a first time visit to Michael Cohen at Bauer Optical on King St. I thought he was very good and no sales pressure. I have spent years with Dr Pollack on Kenmore but I can never get a quick appointment with that practice. Good luck!
Robin M. replied:
I second Dr. Doan. I have been seeing her for 12 years. Appointments are easy to schedule. I've never been pressured to buy anything.
Allison R. replied:
Dr. Butros, yes, that Dr. Butros.
Marlene H. replied:
My sister went to Dr Butros. He performed lasik on her and not only did it not take she was too young for it. He is in it for profit. Dislike.
William W. replied:
Dr. David Weiss in Rosslyn. (703) 524-7111. Very thorough and experienced.
Dawn U. replied:
CrystalCityeyecare.com - in Crystal City. Dr. Chuh is very nice, I used to wear contact lenses and order them online - no pressure to buy their lenses.
Gretchen M. replied:
Dr. Bindal in Pentagon Row-703-418-2020. He found a "freckle" on my retina which developed into a melanoma. All is well, tumor is gone thanks to Docs in Philadelphia, but it could have been very bad if Dr. Bindal had not found it.

Dr. Dora is great. Not sure if she's accepting insurance. http://www.myeye2 eye.com

Bennett Family Eye Care in Belmont (and rumored to soon be coming to Arlington Heights). http://www.belmontoptometrists.com/
Bonnie M. replied:
Dr. Luria at Eye-Q in Harvard Square. He is very patient and will not stop trying different options until you are happy. Also has some cool technology!
Cynthia D. replied:
Dr. Bennett and her colleagues are terrific. They have all the latest technology and are connected to the best in Boston if needed. But the glasses at Costco. Terrific prices and you can repair for free if scratched!
Jules D. replied:
Lexington Eye is great, they have a location on Mass Ave in East Arlington.
Maggie S. replied:
I went to Harvard Vanguard in Davis Sq. Doctor was nice and quick.

Well, it's not in Arlington, but the doctors at Eyes Over Copley (in the Westin hotel Boston) are a married couple from Arlington and they are fantastic!
In addition to an optometrist, I'm also looking for a good primary care doctor in the Arlington area. Any suggestions would be *greatly* appreciated!

Has anyone used the Visual Eyes Optometrist in Shirlington for routine eye exams and prescriptions? Would appreciate hearing about your experience.
Melanie A. replied:
Ditto on what Amy said. Also, contacts there are pricey -- I got a much better deal at walgreens.com
Lauri D. replied:
The exam is great. Buy your glasses somewhere else. I had HORRIBLE service buying frames and lenses the last time. They tried charging me twice and it took 6 weeks to get them back.
I need to go get a prescription for new glasses and contacts, but I don't have insurance... Therefore, I am trying to go to an optometrist and NOT an opthamologist. Can...
Summer A. replied:
I don't think so. Maybe look at your past prescription and go to http://www.zennioptical.com/ Put your info in there to get an idea of what it will cost. Mine is pretty bad too, but they were still cheap. You get the lenses & frames when you order with them as long as you have a copy of the prescription.
So sad to discover that my optometrist Dr Baker has retired. He was such a joy to visit, with his office and waiting room straight out of the Sixties-right down to the...
Melanie M. replied:
Not in Arlington, but we adore Dr. Kenneth Levine - he's on Cambridge St. in Burlington. He's a great eye doctor and I always enjoy my visits with him.

We have been seeing Dr. Levine, too, though not since he relocated to Cambridge Street.
Liane W. replied:
I see Dr. Baker too! So sad to hear this! I also enjoyed going to his office! I'll be watching this thread.

Lexington Eye Associates with offices in Arlington. Dr Liao is great
Veronika K. replied:
I adore Dr. Bennett in Belmont. She was my first eye doctor and I've stayed as loyal as my various insurance companies allow. Every so often I have a plan which doesn't cover her and I go to another doctor for a year or few before returning to Dr. Bennett. She teaches (or used to?) at the New England College of Optometry and is not only very knowledgable about eyes but is also a natural when it comes to understanding eye issues. She's the only doctor I've ever seen who has explained that I have drier than usual eyes because my lids don't close as tightly as some. She's also the only doctor who was upfront that contacts aren't a great solution for me because of that. When I went elsewhere I spent a couple of years lots of different brands of contacts and many gallons of eye drops trying to prove her wrong to no avail.
Been seen Dr Hanley for several years. Texas Vision Care. Medlin and California. Very patient, beautiful quiet office. Learn something new every time I go in.
I'm on the market for a new optometrist. I was pleased with my former one but he's no longer practicing. I'd specifically like someone who is in Arlington, or West...
