Look for classes called Gentle Yoga, or "Yoga for Recovery" or "Yoga for the Second Half of Life." Those teachers have a documented interest in teaching people who aren't wicked fierce yoginis. Also in my personal experience, I have NOT usually found those teachers in gyms, which tend towards (as a general statement) the same well-trained and fairly athletic students ever week.

I've gone to both Refresh Yoga in Old Town and Mind the Mat in Del Ray. Refresh is by far my favorite of the two- the instructors are warm and personable, the classes are small, and I always feel better after the sessions! Plus it smells divine in there.
