I have a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment for $900 in asheville it's really nice. We're trying toget out of the lease on the military moving clause (my husband is active duty army deployed and soon we will be pcsing to New York) but they are fighting it but they suggested someone else take over the lease. Not entirely sure if you are wanting a house or apartment but I have had nothing but good experiences with Jd Jackson and Associates located on Merrimon. I called them 2 years ago describing what I was looking for and a sweet lady informed me of a house that wasn't listed as available yet to check out before everyone else. It is now the place I call home. You could try giving them a call

When we moved here we stayed at Trowbridge Apartments by the VA for a two bedroom which cost much less than what you're paying. Parkway Crossing is good too. I know you can find something cheaper. It was 8 years ago so rents have probably gone up but probably not over your limit. We loved it there. Good location too.

Are there not services for Veteran's in Asheville? Tom, at AB Tech we have a Veteran's Service Office. She may not be able to directly help you, but I am sure she is full of resources and could point you in the right direction. If you check the college's web site it also has some helpful links- abtech.edu. In the top right corner "I want to ... Veterans's services, find". Sorry you had the experience you did with Leslie & Associates. I have never personally delt with them, but know people who have- only reason I mention them. There are also a handful of subsidized aptartments through Mountain Housing Opportunites. Again, best of luck!

Folks I really appreciate the fast responses. One thing that I am sure will help us is the car we just bought. We had to be on a bus line until now. Andrea and Pixie, Leslie & associates are the one's who talked to us like we were filth. One of them hung up on my wife. She is disabled Army and I am disabled fire department. We both have a lifetime untaxable income but I guess serving your country or your city doesn't count. Thanks for the leads so far, please keep them coming. I'll set the one who gets us a place with a running tab with Mikki Fox at the By water. No driving home on your part allowed.

Never my first resort, but most definitely you can find something larger than a studio for less than 1,300 a month. Fox Run Vet in Weaverville is... not fancy. But they are extremely extremely reasonable and community oriented. Call and ask if any appointments have been cancelled recently and you might get in sooner than what they have open (which could be months out).

Check their FB page for locations, times etc., but rabies shots are $10 and other shots are only $15. It's cash only, and sometimes the vets have heartworm tests available too at low prices. You can also contact AHS's [community outreach](https://www.ashevillehumane.org/resources/vet-care-assistance) for flea / tick, vet help etc. on 828 761-2008.

I'm late on this one, but Pet Vet on Patton! in west asheville.

So surprised not to see North AVL Animal hospital. Everyone loves them. I like Jennifer Nepshield (sp?) at Charlotte Street Animal Hospital. I don't like all the vets there but I like her a lot.

North Asheville is good, but in North Asheville! Pet Vet is in West Ash.

Pet Vet is amazing. The new Dr. Chris Myers is the most personable doctor in the world, he came out to the car to do check ups because our dog was sick and would get too excited about other dogs being around. He knew we had to keep Doc's heart rate down and didn't mind checking up on us 3 times in the parking lot! He also gave us a break on the bill when we asked him to do a house visit.

Dr. Meyers is a wonderful, caring person and a great vet!

I second Redwood Animal Hospital. We needed a vet urgently for our puppy on day 2 of her life with us and no one could/would see her except Redwood. They were great then and have been for the past 8 years!

All pets animal hospital www.allpetsasheville.com. took some dogs there while running a rescue. They are wonderful there. Always very nice, love the animals, and always follow up by phone promptly if you have to drop them off for the day.
