Looking for a good / affordable vet in Denver or surrounding area. I am looking for an affordable vet in the Denver area because my dog need to have 1-2 teeth extracted....

I've always heard [Planned Pethood](http://plannedpethoodplus.com/services.html) is the most affordable vet in the area. I've only used them once many years ago for routine vaccinations before I found a regular vet and everything went smoothly. I've taken my last and current dog to [VRCC](http://www.vrcc.com/medical-services/dentistry/) for their oncologist and emergency services (stitches) and received excellent service. However, in my experience they are the most expensive in the area.

I have a few friends who work at Tender Touch Animal Hospital. It's a great vet and everyone is super friendly. It's located on Santa Fe in Denver.

Animal Health Care Denver in north Denver is great. Their prices are considerably less than most vets. They also have people there during late hours. http://www.ahcd.vet/

I took my puppy to Hermosa Clinic 55 th/Federal when he had Parvo. It was $620 for everything which I thought was reasonable.

http://www.castlepinesvet.com/ Took our dog to get a lump removed. They removed his tooth and clipped his nails at no extra charge when he was under. Think it cost about $300 less than what we were finding in the Denver area.

have you checked out Banfield Pet Hospital through PetSmart? I don' tknow about regular treatment prices, but I know you can get a free first check up and they have monthly care plans.

Find one that has a good track record with keeping a canine alive during the procedure, how do you find out? Ask. Some owners disregard price with taking a chance with places with bad track records.

Montview Animal Clinic just off of Colfax. Kind of podunk operation but the vets and staff are top notch and prices are crazy low.

Don't overlook all the vet services provided by CSU in Fort Collins. They are a teaching vet hospital and provide great service at reasonable prices.

We go to Park Hill Vet and absolutely love them. The staff are wonderful and all of the doctors very knowledgable. My dog just had a couple teeth pulled, including one of the large back ones they had to dig out and it cost me about $600 for the whole thing. My dog is on the small size so if you have a bigger dog the anesthesia may cost you a bit more. Check them out.

table mountain veterinary. They have price deals on thursdays - excellent vet, only problem is that they are out in Arvada/Wheat Ridge.

My wife is a VCA vet tech, she said to have the VCA office refer you to Pet Aid(http://www.petaidcolorado.org). It much more affordable and is AAHA(www.aaha.org) accredited

I take all my pets (two cats, one dog) to Broadview Animal Clinic. I had my geriatric cats teeth extracted there; between surgery and antibiotics, it cost us less than $200. The same operation cost my sister $1500 at CSU vet school.

I take my dogs to VCA Alameda East. I've always had good experiences there with every member of the staff. My dogs were found on the side of the road. Apparently someone had put them in their crate and threw them out of a moving car. A cop found them, severely injured and needing surgery, and took them to Alameda East for emergency care. Both made a full recovery. (Just found out recently that Alameda East is/was on some sort of famous television show, too?)

We take all of our fur kids to Broadview Animal Hospital. Very reasonable prices and they really know us and our pets.
kmoonster replied:
Alameda East (the VCA clinic just west/Denver side of the Havana intersection) has an excellent reputation, and has a 24/7 emergency intake set-up. I wouldn't say that for every VCA (they are a franchise sort of thing) but the guys and gals at this location have their sh*t together.

I wish I had a good recommendation, as we drive to Fort Collins to see family who are vets. However in Aurora avoid Chambers Point Veterinary Clinic. As far as places to go, I believe my parents go to VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospitalhttps://goo.gl/maps/Q2CTYBHrCww

I take mine to [Animal Care Center of Aurora](http://animalcareaurora.com/). I've had great experiences there so far and it's right next to an emergency 24-7 vet hospital. The prices are good and there's a discount for new clients. The vet has also been awesome at following up with me on the phone on any issues afterwards.

We have always received exceptional care at Happy Tails Veterinary Care, near Southlands. Last year we had a very sick kitten that we were taking to the vet constantly, sometimes four times a month or more. They always took time to answer questions, call for follow-ups, and provide the best resources they could to help our kitty.

well, whatever opinion each of us has about it, scientists already creating artificial suffering-free meat. First suffering-free hamburger was tested this year inApril. There are a lot of things still to improve and think of. But it can be a key also solving a lot of problems: ethical and factual. I pray it happens soon though =) http://www.theguardian.com/.../synthetic-beef-hamburger...
Marta M. replied:
Heather Workman -well, I find it amazing solution to the current problem. There is no way a lot of omnivores would switch to vegan. This also can be used to feed rescued predators, dogs (as long as it contains the same amount of amino acids ). But the best part of it no animal has to die. Plus a lot of spaces that are now used for slaughter houses can be used to plant food for people. It is quite environmentally friendly and pain free solution as for animals, same for people.
Marta M. replied:
Heather Workman - sometimes I think some of vegans forgot why they are vegans. The idea is not to eat meat, the idea is not to make other specie suffer so we could satisfy our selfish desires. Especially not when we as humans have alternatives. So its not only about avoiding eating meat and having dairy products. Its about not smoking cuz cigarets are tested on dogs, its about not using probably most of cosmetics as it is tested on animals as well, including shampoos and soaps, its about not wearing angora and leather etc etc. Being vegan also requires being educated. But no matter how much we are educated, for some things there are not yet any alternatives and we have to accept that. Tribes of people living in extremely cold climates can only eat animals, they don't have long enough springs, autumn or summers to plant food. And at this point there is really nothing we can do about it. Veganism should not only be a sentimental feeling, it should be compassion combined with knowledge, which at the end should give proper understanding of possible solutions.
Marta M. replied:
Carissa Gatewood - at the end those are the people who make vegans look like a bunch of sentimental idiots. =( I can only wonder how does it feel to have dogs that can eat vegan… Probably feels nice.
Marta M. replied:
Jenifer Gwenaelle Dodson - well, when sled dogs are put in sled they are fed salmon fat to be able to have enough energy. Something they don't usually have in their diet . I do not think it would ever be possible to feed sled dogs vegan and keep them a live with the distances they cover in also freezing temperatures, pulling the sled. Summer is vacation, winter I will put them in cart/sled depending on weather. Huskies ration for centuries was mainly fish, and in summers when they were let go they would hunt small animals in the woods to survive. Considering the origin dogs are coming from, I would not be so confident with vegan food for these type of dogs at least. But I was reading once comments of lady feeding her staffie diet and worked well for her dog. I am still thinking whether it is ethical to force dogs into a diet that is not really natural for them. I mean whether it is fair to force our believes on the, just because we can't stand eating meat, do we have a right to make out dogs become vegan? Especially with the breed I have.
Aurora friends, need a good not too expensive vet. Any recommendations?

Check to make sure a pre-existing condition is covered with insurance. Often they aren't. If insurance doesn't work out, you can try Care Credit. They give credit you can use at vet offices (and dentists) and usually have a 6 mo. no interest deal on purchases. Hope Tulo is better soon, both for him and your wallet!
