The Opto Clinique in the MRT building at Ladprao Station gave me the most comprehensive eyetest I have ever had (in 45 years of wearing glasses. You have to join to get this service - 1,000 Baht, but that gives you 10% discount on frames and 5% on lenses (even promotional prices), so you get that back

Ploen Chit Centre on the corner of Sukhumvit Soi 2 They're on the second floor, north east corner. Can't remember the name, but I go there frequently. They have a really nice guy who does his best to get you what you need and save you money.

I would recommend to see an eye doctor at a hospital or maybe a clinic. Once a year a see Dr. Chate at Bumrungrad Hospital. The eye doctor will write you a prescription you can bring along to the optician.

I buy mine nearby Prom Phong BTS. Top Charoen; the lady speaks good English, remembers her clients and always gives a large discount;) there are 2 Charoen shops there- 'mine' has a little set of stairs, unfortunately I don't remember the exit nr from BTS...u see the shop from upstairs...

The risk is the staff marking the spot on the lens where the progression begins. Have them done at Optik Melawai. It's a national chain with branches in Bali. They do a competent job.
