You should see an Opthomologist, not an optometrist. An opthomologist is an actual MD that specializes in eyes. Dr. Christopher Kelly is very good, as is his son Stephen Kelly. Their office is on the south side of Birmingham near Five Points. (205) 933-2250

Who would you recommend for an ophthalmologist in Birmingham area? I need to get contacts for my caving trips. I have eye issues, so not an optometrist.
Tom W. replied:
Callahan. Dr. Callahan treated my three siblings and me for all our non-trivial eye issues while we were growing up starting in the mid-'50 s.
